Building an Email List for a Niche with Short Term Customer Interest?

I'm just curious as to how effective it would be to create a list for a niche that people are only interested in for a short period of time? In this case instead of running a live blog I would be using an autoresponder to send out information over the course of say 2 weeks with maybe 7-10 emails.

Most of my opt-ins hopefully will be coming from an article marketing campaign on a few of the top directories with links going to my squeeze page (not designed yet) with a good free offer, not 100% sure what I'm going to use for that yet, but I have a couple ideas on that. Once they opt-in then I will use the autoresponder to send articles with some affiliate links that my readers will hopefully find useful.

Of course I realize that if all I do is think about it or make plans, I'll never make a dime. So, even though I'm posting this thread and asking questions, I'm starting to work out what I hope to be a good campaign for this. Mostly finding a handful of good products on CJ to promote through my emails.

One of the reasons I am considering this over using a regular blog, is that with this even if someone joins my list a year from now, the articles that they read will be able to appear fresh. I also plan on using this as a great learning tool as well, really only recently I realized what the term "squeeze page" actually meant in Internet Marketing, was quite a bit off before!

I am incredibly new to Internet Marketing, and also stuck going with free tools, using mailchimp for my list until I get some cash. So with that, any quality tips for what I'm looking to do would be appreciated big time!

Well, I've been moving forward with this so far today and am starting to figure out what I want to send to actually send my subscribers during a 2 week period of providing information in to them for this niche. One small problem is hoping my potential affiliate programs will be okay with using email marketing with a double opt-in. I know one company I looked at on CJ.com specifically said that's it's no okay (didn't apply with them).

    Thanks again.
