1 Hour Of Work Made Me $628.94 So Far....

Months ago, I was like many other people here - scared to death of Duplicate content and all the other "no nos" that everyone was talking about. So, I was publishing all of my content to EZA and was happy with the results, because I was getting paid

After reading some stuff here about the duplicate content issue, I set up 2 Wordpress blogs on 2 different niches that I had a ass ton of content published to EZA on.

I set the blogs up with a substantial ping list and started adding the content to the blogs at a clip of about 3 pages a day, which were automatically pinged, etc.

I set up my RSS feed and submitted it to feedagg and a couple others.

Before I knew it I started getting traffic to my blogs based on the same exact content that had been published at EZA for over 6 months. Currently, we are getting almost 100 visitors a day to each blog and in just over 6 weeks $628.94 was been made off of content that I thought was dead.

I want to make it clear, I did not spin/alter the content at all. Just posted it and then left it alone with the exception of the RSS feed. I'm now ranking fairly well for several keywords and I can't see the traffic or ranking really going anywhere as I have other old content to post as well

  • This is great. It just shows you powerful blogging is.

  • Hi,

Congrats for this success. I have a question about what you just said.

Does this eman you chose "Write Page" instead of "Write Post" when you published the article?
    • [1] reply
  • Good stuff Jeremy!

Are you using the same pen name on your blog
and EZA? Is your about me page with the same
    name?

That might help Google to figure out that this is
the same person posting the content.

I'm just trying to figure out why Google hasn't
    penalized your blog.

    Ebbi
    • [3] replies
    • From the way everything is playing out, it appears that you only get penalized if you like content to the same content, if that makes sense?

No, I'm not using the same pen name, but my rankings continue to increase and the number of visitors I get is increasing as well.

The moral of the story here is, use your content as many ways as possible

The thing is, even if they did penalize my blog, it would not have made a difference to me really. It was just an "experiment" that went right.

      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • Because duplicate content is a myth.

Penalties are applied to duplicate content within the same site. Duplicate content shared between different sites are fine.
      • [ 5 ] Thanks
      • [2] replies
    • Because all this talk of penalties for that sort of things is not true. If it were, a lot of the reason to use sites like EZA would be gone.

I can easily find many copies of the same article in Google- if they were being penalized, why are so many ranking highly?

Not that it really matters, but was that income from affiliate commissions, ad clicks, your products, or all the above?
      • [1] reply
  • I can vouch for this strategy as well. Good stuff, Jeremy. I gotta catch up on your Bootcamp...it's been busy this month.

  • Kickass post. Should open a few eyebrows here as to what's possible if you just go and DO something. Kudos to you, my friend.
  • Hey Jeremy: Just curious what niche is your site?
    • [1] reply
    • Usually I'm pretty transparent with this kind of stuff, but this time I would rather not say lol

I've given away a couple of my niches over the past 30 days to a couple hundred people and working harder than ever to stay ahead

  • Hey Jeremy,

Wonder if you were referring to my post where I created 10 identical weight loss blogs to test out the dupe content theory? Yep, you guessed it, no penalty I could see. That's why I'm spitting out blog after blog in my best niches. OOPS, let one out of the bag...

    TomG.
  • Fair enough about keeping this one close to your chest.
  • This is very interesting, I will have to give it a try.
  • Hi Jeremy,

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

Lots of people in this forum seem to have made money using wordpress blogs. This is something that i should look into and try out.

You might want to look at SEO Press by Brian Johnson. It is about using wordpress for traffic and a lot of people have said many good things about it.

    All the best

  • Jeremy,

Do you have the blog hosted in wordpress or your own domain ?

    Ajith
  • That's very, very good to know. I'm going to keep it in mind when I launch my new blogs.

But, I'm curious about something. How much is an ass ton, exactly?

  • 628$ is fairly huge sum of money, and you said that you received 100 visitors/day,you add positioning must be tremendous to make that kind of money with that kind of traffic.
    • [1] reply
    • Not really if you think about it. The product that I'm promoting on the site converts at about 1:40 on a good day and 1:60 ON A bad day. Figure in the average of a $30 sale and the math makes sense

  • I've been saying this for so long now.Post valuable content to blogs first.

I would love to see Steven W post all his articles to some blogs with proper set-up and watch the results from that....
    • [3] replies
    • Read my post above.

      duh!
    • When you say proper setup u mean ping and rss? I'm assuming here that you promote your rss rather well?

    • I want to quote this, because I have seen James mention this as one of the biggest mistakes that article marketers make numerous times now. Thanks for this fantastic advice.

EDIT - And I have said that the duplicate content rule only applies to content under the same domain. People always seem to be confused about this. It is your content, you can do what you want with it. Google does not own you or your business.
      • [1] reply
  • Jeremy,

Great idea. You aren't linking back to the ezinearticles are you within the blog? I wasn't sure about that part.

    Debbie
    • [1] reply
    • Nope, the only links going off the page, will get me paid

  • Kind of makes one wonder...

What about using nothing but others' content from EZA (leaving the bios intact)? Would the traffic leak from the bios be significant?

I guess that just depends on the offer.

Might just have to play with this.
    • [2] replies

    • Try it with nice "in your face" CPA banners or a lightbox name capture for list building.... I did it last week and I am getting 100 uniques a day this week for a new blog.

    • Kelly, I believe EZA has a limit to how many of their articles you can use. I seem to remember that number is 25, but you'd have to check...

  • Hey Jeremy. Really good post.

So are you buying new domains and posting all this on a wordpress blog or are you using a blog site like blogger for it without your own domain?
    • [1] reply
    • I put this first one on my own domain, but I'm thinking of testing this on sites like blogger. As a matter of fact, I think I am going to grab someone from a freelance site and have that done today

      • [1] reply
  • Jeremy,

Do you put any name at all after the articles (you said you don't use pen name from eza)? Or do you just post them as-is and link to affil product?

    Deb
    • [1] reply
    • I just post as is without the resource box, because these are my own articles.....

I don't leave the links in tact for 2 reasons.

      1. I don't want to add another step for the visitor to make a purchase
      2. I don't want to bleed any juice from my page

If you were going to use someone elses articles you would have to include the resource box, of course. However, I'm going to have a look at a couple of plugins that pull youtube videos and other content from different places on the web to add to my own content and see where it goes

      • [3] replies
  • Wow I am so glad someone posted on this.

    Wahoo!

I am off to publish all that stuff I wrote for EZA....
  • Jeremy,

Thanks this is a great idea. I have a lot of articles collecting dust at eza. Some do well in search engines and some die out totally so hopefully this will revive the dead ones, especially since I can theme them better via a blog.

Also your bootcamp ideas with rss will come in handy.

    Debbie
  • Yup, duplicate content is a myth. It only applies when the duplicate content is submitted under the same website and/or domain.

I believe this was also tested and proven in another thread.

Simply go by this rule of thumb, don't believe in a any of the "no nos" until you have proven them to be a "no no" yourself.

Nice results Jeremy and good job on dispelling the myth.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Yeah, I remember TomG had a thread about this, I never say the "outcome" though.

I'm setting a couple of other sites up today and tomorrow and will report whether or not I have similar results or not with the new sites.

    • What a great story Jeremy, I have seen for myself that duplicate content will get indexed. You can't beat original content in my opinion but it really is a fallacy when people say you should avoid duplicate content at all costs.
  • I think that's a pretty good amount of income for the amount of time spent- it will be interesting to see how much that blog makes over 6-12 months and how the earnings per day or week change over time.
    • [4] replies
    • Yeah, I'm curious as well...I might even set some of these up and if they bring in $50 - $100 a month, try to flip them. Havn't really made up my mind exactly what to do with them.

I hired someone this morning from ODESK to work on a bunch of these sites for me over the next week. They will do all the initial installs and the first batches of content and then I will take over from there.

    • You've got to be kidding me. I was so afraid to post duplicate content so I keep on re writing everything. O.k. my next blog I am going to post some ezine articles and see what happens! Thanks...
      • [1] reply
    • And not only that: a blog like that can show whether or not Google changes its policy in the meantime...
Maybe if we're all going to blog this way now, they simply decide to give the treatment of such sites a full twitch?!

      Yours, intriguedly, Ed
    • Thanks for the great idea.
  • Ok, I'm not real up to date on pinging and RSS feeds. So, when you say you set up a significant ping list, do you mean you added your site to sites like Technorati, Newsgator, etc? And if that is what you did, can you then ping them each time you update your blog using Pingoat or Ping My Blog?

Just curious - this stuff is pretty much Greek to me

Also, on RSS feeds - do you have to submit your feed to the aggregators each time you update your blog, or does it automatically update? If I'm going to try this, I want to do it right! I have nearly 550 articles on EZA, and they must be good for something.
    • [1] reply
    • If it is a wordpress blog, it should automatically ping every time you make a post...not a page...but a post....

As far as RSS goes, some of them you can just submit once and forget where others you will have to resubmit on occasion to keep them up to date.

Personally, I resubmit about once a month. If the particular aggregator already has my feed and it is up to date great, but if not I will resubmit it.

  • I've started a blog, but to date have not had any visitors from what I can tell, how do you start an RSS feed, I think that's what I'm missing.
    • [1] reply
  • Add it to the list of incorrect info that is shouted at us by parrots all over the web. Dup content, wikipedia, nofollow its all just rubbish written about by some big marketer who didnt test properly.

Oh well, makes it easier for the rest of us
    • [1] reply
    • So true, if you just listen to everything without doing any testing of your own, you are leaving a ton of money on the table.

  • Jeremy,
I absolutly love this idea and think I will give it a go myself, got quite the base of articles that if fed 1 a day would fill blogs for around 2 months in a hunger market.

You said you went with your own domains (or I think you did, running on lack of sleep), did you go keyword heavy on these or just grab niche specific domain names and did you go .com or .info

I think I know a great way to randomize the order of posts as well, just go into my EZA account and sort the articles by the various sort methods they offer, like article number, name, veiws etc, this way they are in random order and I will have 5 different orders I could use on 5 different blogs.

Another quick question, did you grab traffic for them in the same way as you did for the bootcamp?

Thanks and grats on the success.
    • [1] reply
    • Sylvia, I did use my own domains, but just made it a fairly general term. I used .com figuring I would have the best luck with it, not really sure what the result would have been with .info.

I really didn't do a whole lot for traffic except for pings, social bookmark, and add content regularly. I may start driving some traffic though lol
  • One thing to remember for those concerned about duplicate content on a single domain blog, is that there's a duplicate content plugin available for Wordpress that will ensure only one version of the content is visible to the search engines. So just in case you end up accidentally posting the same article to your blog twice, the plugin should save you from being penalised for duplicate content.
    • [1] reply
    • I didn't know about that - I'm off to find it now though

  • I've had the opposite experience in a couple of niches. In one case I wrote a loooong and detailed Squidoo lens, and later re-used the content on a WP-based site of my own. Google really loved the lens (it was #2 at one point in a medium-competition niche) but ignored - totally - the WP site. Last week the lens got removed from Squidoo and lo and behold, all of a sudden I am getting traffic from Google to the WP site.

In 2 other niches I used articles from EZ and Populate.net on WP blogs. Both are up to 150-250 posts each, more than 6 months old, and get almost no traffic at all. Google is apparently ignoring the content.

And my original-content non-duplicate sites DO get Google traffic, so it's not because there's something wrong with the site setup.

So, re-using may or may not work for you.

    Kevin
    • [1] reply
    • Kevin, in the example you gave, did you like your squidoo and WP blog together?

I've read a couple case studies on this now and almost all of them have worked out similar to my experience.

Just curious as to what we might be doing different.

  • That's not bad at all...Really shows what you can do with very little time.
  • Help! I am new to this forum and I stumbled across this thread and found it really interesting. First of all, where are you all talking about getting this duplicate content from? Like from another blog or website then just putting it on your blog? Also, where are you getting the traffic from for your new blog with the duplicate content?
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
    • [1] reply
    • Rich,

In my case it was my own content that was written under a Pen Name that I have at EzineArticles. However, I would imagine that you could just as likely take any content that you have rights to use and do that same thing.

This is something that I'm actually testing right now and will hopefully have some more news to report back shortly

As far as driving traffic, in my case, I didn't do much more than set my blog up to ping every time a post was made and submit my rss feed to a couple of RSS sites.

The key here, I think anyway is to spread the content out. What I mean is post a couple articles a day for 3 weeks straight or so.

What I'm focusing on now is the best way to monetize the traffic I'm getting. Currently all of the revenue has been derived through affiliate sales. I am going to test Adsense, CPA, and also adding some type of opt-in box to appropriate niches.

      • [1] reply
  • Jeremy, are you buying up new domains to post the content to? And do you link directly to the clickbank merchant or to your main website?

i started an ultra simple "student loan consolidation" WP blog, working off the great "ProSense" template which i feed with Caffeinated Content.

It seems to go off the last days, i get many comments and google indexes my sites. I should make more blogs. CC + WP rocks!!

Edit: i don't spin either, i still want it to be a site for humans
    • [1] reply
    • GeorgR, a couple of quick questions. What exactly do you mean by 'Caffeinated Content'? Sorry, I've not heard that one before.

Also, I notice that ProSense theme gets used a lot. I'm just curious as the what makes this so popular. The built in Adsense with the links along the top that look like site page links?

By the way, you're missing a privacy policy on that student loans page There's actually a WP plugin in for that.

    • I'm a newbie at IM and I realised something, just now a I was reading this thread. It is great and I was about just to jump into this.
However I've realised that if I jump into every second great new thing that is on the WF, I'll never learn THE BASICS. Just yesterday I've decided to focus on Chris's conduit method combined with Allan Gardyne's 18 steps affiliate marketer manual for newbies like me. And then here I am today, getting excited at the next great quick making money scheme (don't get me wrong, I am NOT putting it down, that's not what I mean at all) that comes along on the WF.
Then I stopped, and I said no. I'll work through the basics first, to get a good IM foundation, and then and only then I will tackle these more advanced things. Because these are all aimed at the people who already know what they do.

Look at some of the posts here above in this thread - some people don't know what an RSS is, some others don't know how to set up a WP blog (I'm one of those, btw) but they all want to get $600 in the next hour. How, may I ask, will you do this???

IM newbies: learn first the basics and then jump in schemes and programs to get the quick cash, when you at least know the technicalities of what all is involved in it. Learn first something that you have at least a bit of success with, and then replicate, duplicate and go for new things to learn. Else I predict that 4 years down the road you're still going after the next quick money making thing and wondering why noone is visiting your site (note to self: learn from my own preaching!!!!!)

Um, did i just make an ass of my mouth? lol!

  • Jermey,

are you getting your 100 uniques per day from just organic search engine traffic? Also how many articles did it take to get you to that 100 per day?

Lastly have you tried to see what happens when you only update your site say perhaps once a week after you get your site "loaded" with a good amount of content?

    Great post by the way
    • [1] reply
    • Cory, a good bit of the traffic was coming from a bookmark on Digg and also an RSS submission at feedagg. However, there is organic traffic coming in every day.

I have not really experimented yet with updating less frequently, but we just set up a couple different blogs over the last 2 days that we are going to test a bunch of different ways

  • There are so many ways to make money off content! You just showed us another way
  • Thanks Jermey. Just curious, how much organic traffic do you think your getting though? Thats what interest me more than anything

I dont expect an exact answer...just estimation. Have a good day.
    • [1] reply

      • [1] reply
  • Well congratulations.

I've the same question as the above - What about organic traffic?
  • ok thanks. I will give this a try
  • That's awesome,

Yes, duplicate content is a myth in my opinion too. It's all about promotion in my opinion. Links are so, so important. The great thing about articles you've submitted to directories is that they already belong to you, why not use them!

    Matt
  • I don't how "long term" you will see this traffic. The question for you is:

How many times have you submitted it to OnlyWire & SocialMarker????

That's an easy way to get traffic but doesn't last very long when using duplicate content. Over time Google figures out what you're up to.

Remember, Google is constantly filtering Quality or in my terms Super High Actionable Content.

I am wondering if you can still do this with the new term stated at EZA:
"Agree to limit the number of articles reprinted to no greater than taking 25 articles from our site per calendar year per unique domain that you own. In addition, for domain owners of many domains, you may not reprint more than 250 articles per year (10 sites x 25 articles reprinted per domain)."

    PLease advice, thanks!
    • [2] replies
    • They are my articles so, I imagine I can do whatever I want with them

    • I have to say though...This has to be one of the most idiotic TOS additions I have ever seen on a site.

      1) How could you possibly control that or monitor it? I am not saying go against the addition they made to the TOS but are you telling everyone that you are going to spend more time and effort policing this than actually reviewing articles?

      2) Adding this to their TOS basically proves the method works. They are losing Adsense commissions. Because you are ranking higher with your content on your own site then you are with it on their site in the end.

So basically the addition to the TOS is to protect their advertisement commissions...Which I can not blame them. However that revenue isn't produced by their content. It is produced by article marketers...I think they need to go back and rethink what they are saying. If they mean alternate content that isn't yours...then fine.

If they mean you can't reprint more than 25 of your own articles per website then that is just morally wrong in so many ways in my book.
  • Hey Jeremy: thanks for the quick reply ! Appreciate it!

Thanks Jeremy, Zerofill, and everyone else who contributed to this thread...I have learned a ton of things that I can put to use right away

Quick question I just thought of...so lets say if the niche you are talking about is weight loss, you put the banner code at the top of each post...so am I to assume that you are promoting just the one product or are you mixing it up?

I was wondering if this would work if i used either subdomains or put each wp blog in its own folder. eg. http:wwwyoursite.com/niche/ I know how to do this. I was wondering if this would work and which would be better for a subdomain or folder.

  • Jeremy, how did you monetize the traffic? Affiliate offers or CPA offers?
    • [1] reply
    • I monetized with affiliate offers, but since then have done more with Adsense as well. I monetize it in a way that fits the niche.

  • wow awesome
  • I find this very interesting because I did the same thing awhile back with my article package I have. I have thousands of PLR articles and I remember on another thread about automatic wordpress posting software and using just plain PLR. So I gave it a shot and about two months later I came back to the 3 blogs I setup and I was averaging about 500 to 1000 visitors a day. On top of that I made about 1500 in clickbank sales. So I believe the whole duplicate content thing is not as bad as everyone states it to be.

I also ended up selling my blogs for a good profit. So about 4 hours of work on my part and it turned me up about 3k. Not to shabby I would say. Anyway point is that its worth trying if you have free time and you have nothing to lose in doing it only something to gain. Either way you can just sell the blog after a couple of months of good traffic.

from that sites.Yeah,1500 in clickbank sales in just two month.

What "automatic wordpress posting software" do you use?

      Thanks

  • Kudos to Jeremy for posting his test! It gives me a great idea for an alternate test I am going to try.

What a great way to start off the new year - new blogs with recycled content for no money in a ridiculously short amount of time!

Do you have a reason to say that or are you just trying to get people to your blog?

  • What about using nothing but other's content from EZA..

Build one blog per niche with hundreds of articles from EZA til you end up with 100's of diff niche blogs..

Do ya guys think this will work..?
    • [1] reply
    • If you did that, technically you would have to include the original authors resource box....talk about a leak!

  • Hey Jeremy!

That's Brilliant stuff, I've been planning to use most of my content several times so your experience is a great boost of confidence to me!

I have a little question or two though,

I have a website here Build Muscle Fast

and a blog at the domain/blog

Do you suggest simply posting to the blog and linking directly to my chosen product, or linking to the site?

And is having a blog on the same domain as my sales page worse for SEO etc??

One other thing I wondered was, would it matter that a lot of articles I'm writing are similar in content? Of course it's all wordered differently etc but there is a limit to what you can write haha!

PS I've used the "Blogs for Traffic" BLogging method qhich was released by a warrior member I beleive, will that suffice?

Thanks so much in advance, I don't usually like to ask people that many questions! Cheers Mate
  • Congrats on your discover and hopefully it will bring you much success later down the road.

Wow this is quite an interesting idea. I'll have to try it out for myself.
  • Superb - I have some old articles positively demanding to be re-used on a blog. I am definitely going to give this a go this weekend - what's to lose?

    Thanks for the tip Jeremy!

    • Thanks I've found this interesting thread. I was once scared of this duplicate content myth and limited me from using my own articles from EZA to other places. But not anymore.. This is a super info really..

Thanks again Jeremy and all the people participating in this thread...

  • Hi Jeremy,

Can you share the "ping list" for us please. I am currently doing an experiment (but with rewritten -not duplicate) articles that I have scheduled for a month or so. Currently I only have rpc.pingomatic.com under "Update Services"

    Congrats for your success...

I can beat my chest and say blogging is one of the most important marketing strategy for internet marketers. Congrat for the Breakthrough and Welcome to the World of Unlimited possibilities.
  • Hi Jeremy,
I am new to internet marketing and I don't know how to set RSS feed can you help me. Just give any site name for tutorial...
and one more thing what is substantial ping list. May be this sounds stupid but I have googled it and don't find understandable
    Thanks
  • This is very interesting. I have been struggling to create new articles all the time for fear of duplicate content. I will now start using my old articles and post them to my blogs...Thanks!

  • Jeremy,

    2 questions:

    1. Im assuming you pay the $99/month EZA membership? True?

    2. Your blog ping list - Didn't that go away with WordPRess 2.6 and 2.7? I thought the pings were automatic now???

Thanks for the success story, I love these!

    • up4bidz,

For the moment I do. I upgraded for the Article Marketers Boot Camp that we did to make sure that there was no delay in what I was trying to teach. More than likely I will cancel it after the month is up.

hmmmm, Good question! That is definitely possible. Don takes care of a lot of the set up stuff with the blogs etc...He won't let me near them for fear that I will permanently break them! In case you have not heard, I'm a bit of a techno tard

      No problem!
  • Thanks for sharing.

Are all your articles related? (same niche)
  • Hi,

How do you setup automatic ping in each post?

"I set the blogs up with a substantial ping list and started adding the content to the blogs at a clip of about 3 pages a day, which were automatically pinged, etc."

    • A handfull of us have tried explaining this dup content thing for a while.. at last some folks are finaly listening this time

I have several blogs where I ONLY post press releases from 1 single company (a different company on each blog). I get the releases straight from the companies web sites. My blogs outrank those companies sites for that exact same content. Now, these were just cheap-o zero-effort blogs that I put together soley to drop relavant text links to my own sites. I only pent $10 each on some social bookmarking outsourcing, and that's it besides the rss feeds and pings.

There's really no 'penalty' if google sees the dup content across your site.. it will simply decide to keep one page in it's index, and move the rest of your dup into the supplementals index. I've experienced it a ton of times - and it never effected my site's ranking as a whole. Those dup pages just no longer help you - but they don't hurt you.

      that's 100 visitors PER DAY.

You need to look around for a different hosting provider. You can get unlimited domain hosting from a lot of places for like $6 a month.

      wordpress does this automaticaly..

  • I set the blogs up with a substantial ping list

Please explain what this means ?

    Thanks
  • I really appreciate an updated Ping List, as it seems mine is kind of old...
  • If duplicate content was all myth, then why not cut and past all half of all content?
  • Sorry if this is a dumb question, but would this work with a regular blog with wordpress, or only a blog you are hosting? I know it's better to "own" your own blog site, but I haven't quite gotten to that point yet (i will soon, just not quite there yet). Right now I have a couple reqular blogs and a ton of squidoo pages.
    • [1] reply
    • I've always been more into the approach of re-purposing my content so as to not duplicate it.
I can sometimes build up to 10 articles off of 1.
  • Haha I wrote about this over a year ago but it is good that somebody else finally understands this myth. If Duplicate Content was the evil so many people make it out to be think about the penalties on your RSS Feeds posted out on so many sites, your Social Bookmarking with "Duplicate Content" on so many sites and article marketing. If the Duplicate Content myths were all true, Web2.0 would not work at all.

Thanks for pointing this out but it still amazes me that anyone would have to.

    • Zombie Apocalypse is eminent.

Might want to try a PM to Jeremy, but in my experience everything mentioned here is well worth doing.

Putting content on sites you control (I would argue you put it there first, but later is better than never.)

Setting up larger ping lists - easy to do. Find or get your own list and copy/paste it every time you make a new site.

Submitting RSS feeds - Buy RSSBot, well worth the money. Many places you put content has an RSS feed. Takes all of a couple minutes once things are set up.

Getting the lists and setting things up is the big time waster here (not really by much.) Once you get the lists and RSS bot set up, you can do both in a few minutes easily... and only need to do them once a site (or feed.)

  • Did you leave the link that Ezine posts back to the article intact? Or did you delete that link from the posts?
  • So you just left the blog and it suddenly started getting traffic? I hope my blogs start doing that if my content is good enough lol.
  • Great thread discussion! Learned a lot and thanks for going out there and doing these experiments to get us some answers!
  • Congratulations !!!! I am very surprised though .i can't believe that google has not penalised your blog yet ... This throws the whole duplicate content idea out of the water
  • Nice stats, the duplicate content issue can be a little confusing, but there is a difference between syndicated content, and pasting the same content twice on the same site
  • Jeremy with his useful experiments again. Your 1st page Google rank WSO for 4 bucks was quite a charm by itself. LOL I enjoy reading your experiments on obnoxious things.

Well, I have been copying content from EZA lately to my sites and they definitely bring a lot of traffic. Duplicate content should be a myth. Even Andrew Hansen gets content from EZA to his blog. It's mentioned in one of this reports.
  • I am speechless after reading the thread and all the replies. I could never think that someone can make huge profit from duplicate content. Really hats off. I will also try the same. Wish I too make some money.
  • why has this old post been dug up from 2008. lol.

    • Actually, the question asked is quite legit and one I've been thinking to myself
as well. So much from years ago is no longer effective since Panda, so the
      question is valid.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Interesting information. Didn't know it could work that way. Thanks!
  • So does this mean that I can snag 100s of articles from EZA (leaving the resource box intact, of course) and populate my blog and in Google's eyes its ok? Wow....and I've been spending 100s of dollars on fresh content?

I must be missing something here.

    • I have a Poker related blog that have not updated in more than a year because I have no time to write articles. I guess I could give a try and revive that old blog!!

      Let´s se what happens

      Saludos

      Marcos
  • The Panda update brought so much confusion that there were people here, actually believing, that article marketing was dead! The paranoia on Google's algo recent change will keep getting clearer on much more people. My quick logical believe is that are afraid the most with the Panda update are those who never test with the content they've on their site or never bothered to actually look at their sites changes in rankings.

A nice structured site you must have those results Jeremy, that's for sure. Won't surprise me if it's just a simple basic site that's nicely design for Google to crawl it, with simple contact us page and a few well structured content categories. Oh well@
  • I think it'd probably be less effective post-Panda, but I'd hesitate to say that the method is entirely dead. Run some experiments and see what happens!
  • After reading this and finding it very interesting I have decided to preform the experement and track the results here. What I have done so far:

    1. Registered a TLD exact match for a niche with 6,500 exact searches.
    2. Set up Wordpress with the following Plugins:

    All in One SEO Pack
    Easy Google Analytics for Wordpress
    nrelate Related Content
    Simple Google Sitemap XML

Iv some PLR articles about this niche which I am using.

I started this last night and posted 3 of the articles. I have just finished posting another 3.

The site is not indexed by Google, so I have ordered the following from Fiverr to get the ball rolling and also it saves me time submitting the feed to RSS aggregators and ping lists.

multimastery: I will submit your rss feed to 100 RSS directories for $5 on fiverr.com
danzig: I will ping your site to around 1500 PR 2 to 7 statistics websites to gain high Pr backlinks for $5 on fiverr.com
karolina: I will ping your website or blog to over 70 services for $5 on fiverr.com
joepark: I will create 70 High PR Authority Backlinks To Your Site for $5 on fiverr.com
wiseman: I will create 10 Edu backlinks for your site Explanation and PROOF 1st Page of Google Inside for $5 on fiverr.com
krh83: I will submit your website to at least 50 social bookmarking site for $5 on fiverr.com
sterlingmy: I will build 60High PR 6 to 8 Backlinks to your site 100 percent money back guarentee for $5 on fiverr.com

I have added Google adsense on each post and have set up analytics to monitor where the traffic is coming from.

I will be posting 3 articles a day, and when I run out of PLR content I intend on getting the content from Article Directories.

Ill keep you informed of how its going in the next few weeks
  • Update.

    Day 3.

I have now posted 6 articles all together, none of which have been original. Im getting a little confused in regards to what has been indexed and what hasn't as all the articles show up on google when i type the "www.domainname.com" yet in webmaster tools it shows the sitemap has been submitted but it says there are 0 URLs indexed - strange!

Anyways, here are the fiverr gigs which have been completed:

    1. build 60High PR 6 to 8 Backlinks to your site 100 percent money back guarentee for $5
    2. create 10 Edu backlinks for your site Explanation and PROOF 1st Page of Google Inside for $5
    3. create 70 High PR Authority Backlinks To Your Site for $5
    4. ping your website or blog to over 70 services for $5

The site is already ranking for 3 long tail keywords...

    1. Best xxxxxx - 59th
    2. Best xxxxxx remedies - 37th
    3. Best xxxxxx treatments - 64th

The keywords im actually targeting are:

    1. XXXXXX
    2. XXXXXX Remedies
    3. xxxxxxx Treatments

I will update again in a few days if there is any movement.
  • Looking forward to seeing your results. I am conducting a similar test myself on an old site of mine using PLR articles.

  • Duplicate content is definately myth.

I have a site that is in a niche specific market. It is actually just 20 or so articles and was sold as a major pack about 4 years ago. I put it up on one of my aged sites, but before doing so, I searched for the names of the articles in some search engines to see what would show.

To my initial horror, the first few pages had my very articles on them verbatim.
Others had published the content as is on their own sites. But I thought, what the heck, lets give it a try.

Within a couple of weeks I had some income from the site. Now it makes an average of $100 per month from ads on the site. At this point, I do not know if its because the domain its on is aged, or because I have other content on the same site that is unique, so its not just a blatant ripp off of another site, but it shows as others have said... Test for yourself

  • Great post!
  • That's pretty awesome...

That goes to show you what taking action can do for you. Others should follow your lead.
  • I've done the same thing for a very competative insurance kw. I rank 5th next to the company's keyword.
  • So this was originally posted back in 2008. Does anyone know if this still works now??
  • Hey, that is a great share! I also have content rich sites that I update regularly. I have just begun to monetize them. Am already averaging a couple of hundred hits a day from the ping list. I am using MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer - If you haven't heard of it, I recommend it. Increased my hits expodentially. (0 to 500 in a week). No, hopefully the monetizing will bring in some funds.
    Thanks for the encouraging words.

Months ago, I was like many other people here - scared to death of Duplicate content and all the other "no nos" that everyone was talking about. So, I was publishing all of my content to EZA and was happy with the results, because I was getting paid After reading some stuff here about the duplicate content issue, I set up 2 Wordpress blogs on 2 different niches that I had a ass ton of content published to EZA on.
