How to get people to submit articles to my directories?

Hello everyone,

I've been making niche sites for a while but recently have been making article directories for the benefit of submitting my own articles for backlinks but at the same time I would like to build them up into popular/useful article directories for others to use.

I have about 10 of them and they are completely free to submit to and I will approve anything that is not obvious junk and isn't completely loaded with links. However, I do not know where to go or where to post them to get people to start using them.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks!

You are creating an article directory for the purpose of backlinking your own articles? That won't do you any good.

If you know PPC then this would be the fastest way to spread the word about your directory.

You have to sell your service as a benefit to other writers. If your site aren't ranked or spidered on a daily basis and they have ads on them, you have to find some way to express a benefit to people that are writing articles.

Why don’t you sign up to some of the article distribution services like Content Croonrer, Distribute Your Articles, UAW or Isnare. That will help you to get your article directory going and will get you some content on regular bases. You do need to watch very closely what articles you are approving and publishing as not all the articles are very good that they send through. Also get your article directories to as many article directory lists as possible and participate in forums and so on. It will take some time before you get some steady and regular user base but once people start signing up and submitting articles then it will grow quite rapidly then and you will find yourself doing it full time just to keep the directories running properly.

Of course people will not use your site if they don't know it! Much better if you will promote your site first or list it on website directories.

Shall I give you a good idea?

1.Buy a domain as it includes “articles” as part. (Ex.. ezinearticles, goarticles)
    2.Register with 15 – 20 social bookmarking websites.
3.Add at least 8 articles into your directory per day as 1 article per 3 hours.
4.Bookmark an article in all SB sites instantly after you published it on your directory.

    The Point,
People visit SB sites for different purposes. And, most of them are interesting with article marketing.

Great advice Mark. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks!

Also, I've had a few pm's asking for links to them. I cannot reply to pm's so if you want links to them just pm me your email address and I'll gladly send them to you. Thanks.

Don't expect to receive a surfeit of good, worthwhile articles. Overnight 138 articles had been added to the little directory I run; I'm working through them right now, but so far I've rejected 113 (with 25 still to check.)

It seems only about one in 100 contributirs ever both to read the site's Editorial Guidelines, if they did about 95% would eliminate rejections

There are easier ways to set up article dumps for backlinking your articles.

On the other hand, if you do want to provide a useful resource that just happens to benefit you as well...

You really have two audiences to please. You need to persuade quality authors and quality publishers that your directory will benefit them.

That means having standards that are much tighter than "anything that is not obvious junk and isn't completely loaded with links."

You may find success securing authors by approaching them directly. Simply drop them a note saying you admire their writing and why, then invite them to check out your directory site. They'll sign up for an account if they see value.

You could also try something a little sneaky if you have a PPC budget. You could site-target ads on the Google content network, and place ads on sites like EzineArticles and GoArticles.

Securing publishers would work much the same way.

At least this gives you a place to jump start the thinking process...

      Annie,

Wow that is crazy. Sounds like I'll be spending quite a bit of time filtering through junk! Thanks for the heads up.

      John,

I appreciate the advice and I'll definitely have to look into the advertising. I really do want to have quality articles in my directories and that sounds like it may be the way to go.

Thanks again for the help and advice everyone.

I have the opposite problem. I have a site that's not an article directory. How do I get people to stop trying to submit their articles to it?
      Signature

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

        Dan, problem is so funny………

        Solution,

Put a bar at the top of your site and tell “The Website You’re Visiting IS NOT an Article Directory”
