Offering Bonuses for products

For every big IM product launch, I see tons of websites that their main thing is offering a big bonus if you order through them. I assume this must work pretty well since so many people are doing it.

So, if you can land on the first page of google and have a good bonus package, what kind of sales can you expect from a product launch?

If you dig a little, you'll see that most of the marketers in the bonus derbies are not relying on SERPs to win. Many of them have already built large lists from their own launches. They'll supplement this with paid advertising to build those lists even further.

In some cases, it doesn't even boil down to the actual affiliate commissions. It becomes down to seeing who the BSD* is going to be for the launch, and take whatever prize the person running the launch is offering for the affiliate contest.

[* BSD = Big Swinging Dick, a term I first heard in reference to bond traders on Wall Street. The BSD was the guy (or gal) who brought in the big deals worth the big dollars.]

Hmmm. So without a list, there's no real hope to making any sales even if you land on the front page of Google?

I'm not sure I'd go quite that far, but you're close.

Rather, the compressed time frames of most product launches make it difficult to rely purely on SEO for traffic.

If you had the ability to drive large numbers of visitors to your offer, effectively pre-sell them on both the launch offer and your bonus, and get them to the launch offer, all within the week or two of a big launch, you might have a chance...

I'm pretty sure that's not what he said.

FYI: I recently wrote a case study on how one guru uses his bonuses to avoid getting refund requests for the actual product that he is pushing. You can read it here: Case Study: One Guru’s Tactic for No Refunds | Internet Marketing Strategies by E Brian Rose

Certainly you have to build your list and send them additional bonuses so they will be willing to have bonuses and buy for sure your product, but you can also build a WP and add some cb products and bonuses there, but to have the list is the best option...
