Will someone please tell me what I did wrong!

Please tell me what I did wrong so as I don't make the same mistake again.

I think someone pointing it out to me before removing my threads would have been a bit more reasonable.

I didn't read the other post(s) that got deleted, but I deleted the "Why were my posts deleted?" post. See the sticky at the top of this section, titled "Being a better member moderator" for the answer to this and many other questions.

    Go, and sin no more.

read the sticky's on the forum.

I am sure it will become obvious to you, as I usually know what I did to get mine removed.

Don't post "Why was I deleted threads", or you might be facing a temporary ban.

I posted in your deleted thread that it was a thread better suited as a WSO or "warrior for hire" so not sure why you're so shocked it got zapped.

I reported it as such and others must have done the same since it was deleted. If the super mods agree it stays gone.

And posting these "what I did wrong/where is my thread" follow ups usually gets the mods to ban folks at least for a few days.

We all get threads/post deleted from time to time. Warrior up and move on.

      Bill,
Contact help desk instead of posting Why was I deleted threads, or you might be facing a temporary ban.
I don't know where that meme started, but it's an absolutely horrible idea. The main person there is Thomas, and it's unlikely he'd know why any specific post or thread was deleted. Either way, he'd probably just reply, "It broke the rules." Then some poor frustrated slob will go off on him and one of us would find out and nuke him with extreme prejudice.

Don't waste Thomas' time. And don't ever send people to do things that could result in them getting nasty with him. The last one is putting them in the way of the hammer. You don't get a second chance on that if any of the rest of us hear about it.

When you become a member, you become a moderator. You are as responsible for the atmosphere and tone of this forum as anyone else. The only question is how you choose to exercise that responsibility.

              And therein lies a lesson.

These kind of threads could be avoided if people didn't just jump into the forum and start posting and (maybe) mañana read the rules.

Thanks for the explaination although I never got the chance to read the the thread was better suited to WSO.

You can't really "move" a thread over to the WSO section. You either create it specifically as a WSO and post it in that section, or create a normal discussion thread here.

    OP (Other Paul),

On a more serious note... I have no idea what, if anything, Thomas gets paid. But I know it couldn't be enough for what he does. Dude handles a thankless job with grace and courtesy, in the face of some of the most irrational people you're likely to meet: Angry Warriors.

Like many customer service situations, some folks think they can abuse him and he has to take it. They treat customer service people as though they were prisoners who could be abused and had no choice but to take it.

    Damned ignorant bullies.

Allen has made it quite clear that such behavior is not to be tolerated here. You abuse anyone through the help desk, you're instant toast. Now and forever.

The fact that Thomas is one of the most thoughtful and helpful people you'll ever meet probably has something to do with it, too.

True that. The few times I've opened a support ticket (to ask why my threads were deleted - kidding!) Thomas always replies super fast and is always friendly and helpful.

I never reply "thank you" because I figure he doesn't need more emails so Thomas, if you read this... thanks dude!

There is a sub-forum for SEO stuff.

        Donnan,

If you ask the question that way, it's likely to get nuked as advertising.

Turn off your sig file for that thread and ask what the usual rates are for X, Y and Z types of SEO services. But ask in the SEO forum. Or just look through the Warriors for Hire section and see the prices. Then go look at people selling to brick and mortar businesses in the real world. Figure out who you want to work with and see what other people are charging for the same things. Then add value that doesn't add time to the workload.

I think that your question could go in the main forum, you just have to ask it correctly. Perhaps the title should be "How Should I Price My Services?" You could then give a brief outline of what you do. That will spark a discussion and people will probably ask you about your experience and you can tell them.

I saw the original post and even replied to it. I know that you weren't trying to spam the forum, but others felt differently and reported you.
