What should I charge?

Hi Warriors,

Boy, I hope I am ok placing this in this forum?

After years experience getting my sites listed on FIRST page of Google, a recent thread here on Warrior Forums spurred me into maybe releasing my secrets of my SEO to the world. Many of the users on that forum said it's impossible and can't be done. Well, I am telling you that is not true!

I have a number of sites I am listed on FIRST page of Google for selected keywords. Just to show you one, I am not trying to spam here (nothing to sell on this site) this is a genuine example of my first page listing in google.

In google.com search "hotels in australia"

http://www.australia-hotels.net

Today this search term comes up #7 on the first page of google.com. On google.com.au the same search term comes up #6 on the FIRST page.

I have a keyword "roulette" in which my site comes up FIRST page on google.com.au position #4 I will give you the url to veryify that if you like. The same keyword "roulette", my site comes up on google.com page 5. I really only concentrated on google.com.au when I did the SEO for this site. I have just created a sister site just especially to rank the same "roulette" keyword on google.com keep an eye on it over the next month and watch it go to FIRST page on google.com

What I would like to know is what do you think I should charge to release this information of my SEO techniques?
#charge

What you are doing isn't anything new in SEO. You have optimized your keywords in your website, created good backlinks to rank your site to number 4 pr and you used the keywords in your domain name. What to charge? - advertise and see what people are willing to pay.

    Thanks John for your reply.

What are your thoughts on the first page ranking on google.com.au i have for the keyword "roulette"

    http://www. ans.com. au/~sydney/pages/roulett.htm

I don't have a domain name relevant to this keyword.

I have added a space so it's not a link as I don't want to be seen as spamming this thread.

See what others are selling SEO products for and sell yours for a bit less...i would recommend building a list by first giving away a few lessons for free...then introduce the whole product at a discount

    Thanks Joshua,

Finally someone taking things a bit more sensibly.

I think that is a good start.

SEO can be a fine art and it looks like from some feedback that I have had, not too many users really know it's possible to get on the first page of google or they just outright think it's totally impossible because they have tried it and failed.

There again that is another reason why 97% of people trying to be successful on the internet fail.

It's left for the other 3% of us to show them it can be done.

Well, Paul, the australia-hotels dot net is practically older than Google itself and is a PR4. It must have tons of backlinks from the previous owner. That might have 'something' to do with it landing on page one... Teaching newbies how to buy aged domains with PR is valuable information. Not sure how much to charge. These IM pricing decisions are all so arbitrary. Who is to say what the fair price is for that knowledge?

I'm a fellow Aussie so I don't want to be too harsh BUT after taking a quick look at the pages you mentioned, I wouldn't be selling any SEO courses right now - you asked for our opinion and i like to be straight up and honest.

    1. A lot of the basic SEO techniques one should follow have been missed on one or both of the sites. Things such as keywords in the domain, keywords in page titles, effective meta tags, etc. Heck, we don't even know what keywords you MEANT to target in the first place.

    2. You will need a lot more proof than two webpages to get people to buy your course. There are a ton of great seo courses out there, many on this very forum, that have tons of case studies and have achieved much higher rankings for even harder keywords - and in google.com not just google australia.

Keep pushing forward but I wouldn't be in any rush to go and sell a course unless you have a consistent formula that has worked time and time and time again. It would do more bad for your reputation than good.

I bet these come from guys that can't get listed on first page.

Isn't it obvious I would want to target "roulette" for my keyword on my Roulette site?

Isn't it obvious I wanted to target "hotels in australia" as a search term for my Australian hotel site.

I understand if you say it's lucky. But hey, the proof is in the pudding and there is no luck in that.

Mate, it just proves a point that SEO is not what people think it is.

          Thanks for your input Ian.

People are very sceptical especially when it involves paying for something.

I remember when I first started my Sydney hotels site in 1993, (by the way, I dominated google, infoseek, hotbot, yahoo, northern light, webwombat and many other search engines with a number of different keywords/phrases) hotel owners didn't believe I could generate business for them on the internet, but they soon opened their minds when I started booking their hotels out. They marvelled at how they were paying professionals big bucks to get them listed in the top pages of search engines and they struggled to get anywhere near the FIRST page. Managers often made approaches to me to ask how I did it.

I know that I will make a few sales for my information as there are people with open minds that are willing to look at their SEO techniques and realise they might have it wrong.

Inside this forum there are lots of SEO courses with prices ranging from a few bucks (thinks upsells later down the sales funnel) to $37. In ClickBank they range from $37 to $77 on the front end and have several upsells.

And there are of course those big courses (think a few GB of information, lots of vids) that sell for $997 - $1,997.

It all depends on how you position your product and on how good you're at copywriting.

        Dan.

You have 2 first page results on Google.com.au - don't get too carried away is all I am saying. They are not even positions 1,2,3 and as most of use here know, having a site down in the positions 7-10 will get you not much traffic at all - it's dead space down there. No offense but I do not want to be taught how to get my website there.

In many cases you are going to get more traffic having your site as number 1-3 on the second page of results than where your site currently is.

As I said, there are many cheap cheap courses on sale here already that teach good SEO techniques. These are people who can take new domains and have them ranking for competitive terms in a matter of weeks/months - not years. And they have plenty of proof to back it up. And they are able to get their sites up in top positions on Page 1, not down the bottom of the page where no one looks. And they are able to do this over and over and over again.

So unless you have some very unique method for getting your sites down to the bottom of page 1 on Google.com.au, then all I was saying was I wouldn't rush into trying to sell a product.

Well, no. That's why I had to question what you were intending to rank for. Because anyone who does SEO will tell you that you should have the keyword phrase in the title of the page and the domain as a bare minimum.

    Thanks for your input guys.

Well Diane I am the original owner of this domain I have had it right from it's creation. Everything it has attached to it came from my own efforts.

Well WillR, I don't mean to be rude mate, but you obviously missed the point. Part of the problem is people think they know the answer just like you believe I haven't followed basic SEO techniques.

That is part of the secret to getting to FIRST page. SEO techniques today are so blown out of proportion. Many people think they have the answer. Just like I believe I have the answer to getting onto the first page. I can do it when I want to, for any keyword/s, can't you?

You say I shouldn't base my success on 2 pages. What if I had another 100 to show you. I bet you still would say I was doing it all wrong.

What works is the results that show. How many FIRST page results do you have?

    Sorry WillR,

You should check google.com for "hotels in australia" being at #6 position gets an awful lot of visitors to the site. #6 is not the bottom of the first page. But hey I know nothing I say will convince you of anything. Thanks for your input mate.

I'm really not trying to talk you down, please understand that. If you are confident you are getting results and you are able to get those same results over and over and over again, then by all means create a product and show people exactly how you are doing it.

I have just seen too many products where people publish the same old rehashed information and don't have substantial proof to back up their claims.
