When testing the price for a product with the price $7 against $17 {same product},

using split testing software to rotate the price - i asuume?

wont people who purchase the $17 feel that they have spent $10 more for the Same product that is worth $7,

so they will feel ripped off, or what the heck is going on? and get pissed? at the thought of being used as a guinee pig,

I might also do $14 against $27. That is a bigger drop, by $13.

Wouldn't worry. Loads of times I've bought something whether on/off line only to see the price change later. You win some, you lose some.

If someone catches on, refund the difference.

If you are in the IM market, people will understand if you tell them you are testing prices.

You probably won't get any complains but if someone comes to you asking you why they paid more, simply refund the difference!

Why not direct your visitors to 2 different landing pages? Thus they'll never know about your tests .

This happens to people every day. In fact, just before Xmas I was at my parents house and my mother was complaining that she bought a present weeks ago and she saw it for much cheaper just before Xmas...

People pay different prices for the same product every minute of every day. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are doing it properly and the software uses cookies then they shouldn't ever know about the other price. Unless of course they decide to clear their cookies and come back to the site. Even then they still have a 1 in 2 chance of seeing the other price.
