Best self-hosted autoresponder? (php only)

I need to host autoresponders for numerous small businesses. I know about Infinite Autoresponder, but it's not the most usable system. For one thing, it doesn't allow the user to change the order of the responses, or insert new ones. The user interface is also confusing.

So I'm looking for an self hosted autoresponder for my server. It has to be written in PHP, because I'm going to adapt it to suit my needs. Usability is probably the most important feature. I don't care if it's paid or free - I probably prefer paid for support purposes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

P.S. If you're more technically minded, here's some additional information:

I'm going to adapt it to use one install for multiple sites. It would help if it had the following features:
- No IonCube/Zend obfusicated code. I need to be able to change the code.
- Multiple admins (I'll hack it so there's a super user admin, and a website admin).
- Handles multiple sites from one install.
- Uses SMTP servers instead of built-in PHP mailing.
- Master resale rights would be cool - what I have in mind, a lot of people might be interested in.

Autoresponse Plus always gets great reviews and has been around for a long time (meaning it's not going away any time soon).

I don't know about the specific features you mentioned, just that ARP has a good reputation.

Thanks, but Autoresponse Plus is Perl based. I'm going to adapt the software, so I'm looking for a PHP solution.

Sorry; I wasn't aware what it was coded in. Whatever you get make sure the license allows modifying it.

ARP4 (Autoresponse Plus 4) which is almost finished, from what I know, is supposed to be in PHP. So, no longer in PERL.

unless you know how to deal with getting whitelisted by the various mail gateways, and dealing with all of the BLs on a regular basis, it'll cost you WAY more in time than if you just went with a commercial solution.
There are no absolutes in this game. It's horses for courses.

For example, I host my own solution, I've never joined a whitelist in my life and today my open-rate is 2.4 times the open-rate rate of one of the biggest 3rd party providers, based on the latest figures available on their website.

Contrary to popular belief, no magical ability is required to increase deliverability.

    Cheers,
