The correct interpretation of paypal policies on this is:

    1. You can hold money in your paypal account and pay for your purchases from that balance. The money you have earned and accumulated should be withdrawn to your bank account.

    2. You can continue to buy stuff online and pay with paypal if you have a credit card linked with them.

    3. You can't receive more than $500 PER TRANSACTION in your paypal account. This means if your product is priced above $500, use some other means of getting paid.

It is not actually a panic situation for Indian paypal users. I see too many threads here questioning the intentions of paypal, flaming the Indian central bank etc. from users who haven't interpreted this properly.

You want to live in a society without rules? or want the rules only apply for others and not to you?

If there is no central authority monitoring the funds coming in and going out, there is high possibility of funds being used for wrong and unsafe stuff (like money laundering, funding terrorism etc.)

I believe it is a welcome change, and Paypal is only complying with the directives of the Indian authorities.
