How Much Would You Pay for a Website?

I guess I'm not technically a newbie. But lots of offline stuff took me away from really focusing on my online projects for a while, and really getting back into it is making me feel newbie-ish.

Anyway, I've been building my own WordPress websites (WP blogs that look like static websites) for a while, and have gotten pretty good at. I toyed with the idea of offering it as a service before, but now I want to get really serious about it. Now, I'm just trying to figure out what to charge. I don't want to charge too much, but I don't want to charge too little, either.

How much would you pay to have such a site created and installed for you? Fifty bucks? A hundred bucks? More? Less?

Here are some examples, to give you an idea what I'm talking about.

Site One
Site Two

I'd be grateful for any advice or opinions?

I'm going to give you a tip that will save you wasting time and effort.

    Don't JUST sell sites.

Sell sites that have an INCOME.

Let me give you an example.

I could create a site that promotes, for instance, webcams. It might take me an hour or a day to create, depending on whether I get custom graphic work done.

Now I might be able to sell a custom webcam blog for $400 / $1500 or something shitty for $50.

    BUT...

What if I make that blog and seo and write the hell out of it?

Get it making a signup a day?

    A signup a day is $150 / day or $4500 / month.

Now you have a site worth selling.

You have stats and income statistics. Some people will pay 3 times yearly earnings. Others will offer you 6 months.

It doesn't have to be cams, that's just my example because I promote that and dating.

You could do Click Bank products or Amazon etc.

Kristian, I am definitely looking to go in the direction you described. But, right now, due to the holidays (and some urgent, real life things), I'm trying to find a way to put this skill I have to use right now, and maybe plump up the old bank account.

But, being new to this, I'm trying to figure out how much I should charge right out of the gate.

    djones,

Understood understood. In that case I would sell basic blogs for a minimum of 99 bucks. If they want graphic work (logo) then take the price up accordingly. If you need logo work done for you I'll shoot you a link via pm.

Just doing wordpress installs would probably not pay well because most people can (or SHOULD) be able to do it.

Vbulletin installs would be in demand. As would traffic trade scripts.

Those sites you made are very nice indeed. I love the second one. So I reckon you should do well selling to warriors alone.

Edit: Target lots of webmaster forums (dont need to tell you, i know) and also ebay.

I just paid a guy to do graphic for my lander $75, than I needed another testimonial page and the blog banner and that was another $40. 5 page site is around $50-250 depending on what these people want.

I can tell you this, i charge my mainstream webdesign clients (small local companies) $1099 (roughly, i charge in Euros) for the following:

    - logo design
    - custom website design using wordpress as cms
    - very basic onpage optimization

..and a monthly fee of $199 for hosting and maintenance
As a bonus they get a free business card design.

hope that helps you a bit.

    Darren,
While I appreciate your work, I must sound it to you that with all the slow down happening and every single bread earner inching towards getting broke, their are umpteen IMers, website creators providing qood quality work at all time low prices.
I'd think USD 47 and USD 37 would be the optimum figures, thats purely my take. Its good to mop the market, penetrate and create a lasting impression.
    Give combined deals: 1 for 47, 2 for 87, 3 for 127.
I am telling you: you'll bag plenty of orders.
    All the best.

    BTW Darren,
My price expression above is based on WSO and not to the public. For public it may be like 67 and 47............bottomline: get to the wso, create about a score of them, showcase them.........and voila.......u are flying.
