Spate of Paypal Held Payments From WSO Sales

I don't know if any of you who sell WSO's regularly are seeing this, too, but since the start of this year I'm getting all kinds of held payments for review. Luckily, they've all been for a higher ticket coaching program that is paid for before anything is delivered, so I'm not being scammed out of anything. But it's still annoying. I guess someone on a blackhat forum decided to recommend this strategy (again). Anyone else experiencing this nonsense lately?

Paypal's system is placing automatic holds, most likely because the buyer is using a stolen account or something along those lines. It's not being initiated as a dispute by the account holder. It's automatic.

I'm not losing anything since this isn't a digital download product, but I still worry that enough of these may put my Paypal account at risk. I've had this account for 10+ years.

I'd be on the phone with them ASAP before some trigger happy
      employee puts the freeze on.

Right, my thought exactly, so I did call them as soon as I saw the emails. I got right through, which is strange and probably because it was early on a weekend day. The guy was nice and helpful and I'm always very courteous with them. No sense fueling the fire if someone you're talking to there has any power over your account's status.

So what did they say John?

Any usable info, or just generalities? I understand they are walking a thin line to help people vs revealing their techniques for detecting fraud, but would be great to know if they provided any useful info.

          Thanks!

          Gary

That's exactly what I was going to say, you might not be losing anything right now but it's scary when you have your earnings being handled by an unstable account and/or company. You don't know what to expect!

Paypal started holding money from ebay sales a few months ago, they claim it was because my account was less than six months old. I was making consistent daily sales for months with 100% feedback and then out of nowhere they started holding funds. They didn't hold sales made through website payment buttons, but they did however discontinue the holding of funds once my account reached the 6 month mark. Paypal is famous for finding ways to hold onto funds for as long as possible, legitimate or not. I'm far from the biggest fan of their business practices but their service is convenient.

It can be scary having them handle large sums of your income.

I haven't had any holds put on payments lately...strange because my products are in the same price range as yours. I have been experiencing delayed ipn notices though...

I was having some issues with them myself all of last week....finally got everything resolved but I was a bit miffed because there was a sizeable amount in my account and I have never ever had any problems with them before.

I think the whole IRS issue with them has got Paypal becoming slightly more annoying to deal with.

    Respectfully,

if your activity has changed over time such as more payments or higher amounts coming into your account then paypal can review your account for fraud. What you're saying may be something else however I know of a lot of marketers who have incurred this problem. Luckily the money has been released but they just want to check and cover themselves as far as I am aware.

Thanks, Allen. Anything so popular as this forum is going to attract the dark side occasionally. Tiny price to pay for such a chance at massive exposure. If I haven't said 'Thanks' to you lately for what you've given all of us here, THANKS!

          Do they work for paypal?

or if not, how did they get around the issue of paypal freezing your account,
on the vast amounts of funds you get from the daily WSOs ?

John, you might want to have a back-up order system in place that you can switch to quickly in case your account is frozen sometime. Alert pay, Clickbank, your merchant account ... anything, just as a precaution.
