Flippa Oddity. Have You Ever Seen This?

I was trying to buy a site at Flippa the other day and there was about 15 minutes left in the auction. No one had entered a bid yet.

I was waiting for the clock to go down and was hoping to buy it.

Then all the sudden the auction had 3 more additional hours added to it. I didn't have time to stick around and left the house.

Has anybody ever seen this happen? Is this standard practice?

I'm a bit confused.

This is standard practice there. They explain the reasons for it there on the site.

Maybe the seller paid to prolong the auction... can they do that?

Yeah, the auction gets extended like that to prevent people from sneaking the winning bid in at the last minute. Definitely a good feature, based on old Ebay shortcomings.

Yes, sniping isn't allowed. And I thought they pushed it back 4 hours? Correct me if I am wrong.
