When do I start marketing the blog?

Hey Warriors,
Today bought and registered my domain name (.99cents from go daddy), I bought and got the host all setup (host gator). I wrote three articles for my niche and I wrote two blog (wordpress) entries and I have several affiliate links on my blog.

I don't have a final layout for my blog yet so that will be changing and I also don't have any way to capture my visitors information to start building a list some also going to add that any suggestions?

My question is, when should I start submitting articles to article submission websites. Do I have to wait until my blog has a certain number of entries or can I start marketing it now?

I have Dragon NaturallySpeaking and was able to write the articles, or speak, rather quickly and I believe them to be quality about 500 words. Over the next several days I will be creating more articles my goal is about 20 for this niche, or until I start seeing some profits.

Thanks!

I have heard that you need to spend at least 50% of your time promoting your blog and 50% of the time creating content for it, when you first start. I would start submitting articles as soon as you have up some decent content. It takes a few days through ezine articles to get accepted anyways.

It is actually closer to 20% content and 80% promotion and it works. Most bloggers want to write constantly. The pros focus on getting ranked.

I would post 1 unique article to ezine and another unique article to all the rest just for the backlinks, and I would do that ASAP. If you can write articles quickly then do a few and submit them. Wordpress is very easy to rank depending on the niche.

What are some good ways to capture the readers info and start building a list? Is it the pop up box? (Does WP have a script for this?) or is it outsourcing to a autoresponse generator?

There are several ways to capture reader's emails. A good way is to write a short report in your niche 10-15 pages and offer it for free to anyone who signs up.

You're going to need an autoresponder like Aweber.

Promote your blog right away to start building your list even if your product isn't finished. Post 3 times a week if you can. If that's too much hassle you can ask people to be a guest blogger but that way the content won't be as good. Remember to post using keywords and the traffic will come in.

Dennis - I launched my blog last month. The way I did it was to post some content and start marketing it right away with articles all pointing back to my blog. In the beginning it will take some time but you need to post at least 2x per week - best if you do it 3 x per week.

I use the following to market my blog:
    1) Blogcatalog.com
    2) Technorati.com
    3) Articles on EzineArticles.com and Isnare.com
    4) Onlywire.com
    5) Feedburner.com

I hope this helps. By the end of 1 month you will see results, but it will be little my little. Just be patient.

I have to agree you want to create some kind of report focused on your niche and give it away to your readers for signing up to your mailing list.

There are different sites that offer different levels of autoresponders. The start out very simple and basic and go up from there.

    Hi,
I actually have an Older ebook that I can make more current for the "freebie" that I plan on using to get people to sign up for my list.

Also, Andres how often do you submit articles for your blog? Have you received any earning yet?

To be honest not as often as I should - I have submitted several articles last month all focused on a particular subject that all go back to 1 eBook I'm pushing and yes I have made a couple of sales.

My blog is no new I have a lot more to work on my plate before I can say it's a hit. However I am in it for the long haul. I like using Technorati because you can post discussions all related to your niche.

      I hope that helps...

Yep, as has already been said, get marketing it straight away and never let up until you have solid organic traffic coming your way.

Also throw out your RSS feed to the various sites, that will help you get indexed and get your content out there.

Promotion IS the key... but personally I like to have my blog looking decent before I start generating traffic. Since I am a writer, I'll shoot for 5 to 10 quality posts (maybe some auto post too), then I'll start my submissions to the article directories.

Yes, I kind of feel the same. Atleast for my first blog, this one is kind of my baby. lol (i know i should not have any emotional attachment)

My design is almost done, I have not put up the affiliate stuff yet though, i'm having trouble with adsense too, ugh.. once I figure this stuff out it will be much easier.

      Thanks !
