Amazon Affiliate Q - Do you earn from items you dont promote

Hi All,

Only very recently decided to start promoting Amazon.
I have a website that promotes 1 Amazon item, but recently I have had very many sales which arent this item.

If someone goes to Amazon from my aff link on my site and then buys something else - do we get commission?

Thanks
A

Yes, as long as the buyer went through your affiliate link, whatever they buy within the 24 hour cookie span, you will get the credit.

Yes. I have had commissions on everything from baby wipes to laptop computers, and none of those are items that I promote. Just had a commission on a pair of ear rings this month, and I don't pomote thos either.

Do you just have backlink to those particular items on Amazon?

That is one of the cool things about amazon. It's an easier model to get my head around. I don't have to worry quite so much that my link is going to directly convert -- my job is just to drive them to the store.

Thinking out loud: I've been noodling with a strategy of targeting products that lead to other products. (low priced things that will only pay pennies, but have a high probability of leading to other items.

I just hope they never get rid of the 24-hour cookie! Unrelated sales make up a huge percentage of my sales!
