Aweber and SPAM Complaints

Is it normal to get complaints when you do a broadcast? It's very low, less than 1% but it bugs me. I KNOW people forget when they sign up on lists, but it concerns me for my Aweber account and domain if there are complaints.

Obviously you're never going to please everyone but I'd like to keep it to a dull roar. Any advice?

Most of the time those complaints are just them unsubscribing to your list. They sign up to your list to get whatever you are offering they receive that and then the next time they get an email from your list they unsubscribe.

I agree with you it does bother a person but you just have to keep on adding to your list.

Maybe offer a new giveaway to your list every so often. Find a reason to make them want to stay signed up with you.

Ah, that is my constant quest!

That makes sense that it could just be unsubs. I'll see if that corresponds next time.

[edit] So checking to see if it corresponds would not really tell me anything. Hmmm. I just wish I could figure out what the complaint was. I'd fix it.

Complaints are not unsubscribes. The people who complain do automatically get removed, but the 2 things are different.

Ignore me if you want, but complaints are people hitting the spam button or otherwise formally complaining. Some email services notify Aweber when that happens, then that person gets removed from your list.

People who click the unsubscribe link do not register in the complaint numbers that Aweber shows. You could have 40 people unsubscribe and zero complaints.

Thanks Chris. Though I've been using Aweber for over a year, I still get a little fuzzy on how it works.

What is an acceptable or reasonable complaint percentage for aweber? I haven't been emailing very regularly to my list, so my % is usually about 0.20%. I thought I read somewhere that this is high... is that true?
