If you tell me you're complaining about the heat down there when it's 6 degrees here and another 12-14 inches of snow expected tomorrow--I'm gunna have to put the slap down on ya! Just kidding. Hi Mike,

Loved it, but there is one bit I am not sure I agree/understand you. The guaranteed earning, is your ire directed towards someone making a garanteed income claim without actually compensating you if you fail or without explaining any condition attached to it as opposed to someone making the following guarantee "earn 100$ in a week or your WSO money back".
Or do you just frown on any type of earning guarantee?

...Or Have I misunderstood you ?

Hi TPF,

I understand what you're saying (asking). It's not an easy thing to answer because a single answer cannot cover every case. I think there probably are cases where a product vendor could make some sort of guarantee about earning if someone follows their plan. And in some specific instances that could well be justified.

On the other hand, I think it can be over-used to lead people in to situations where they desperately expect earnings that just might not be there for them. I have no perfect answer. Your question is better than my answer!

But what do you think, TPF? Am I way off base? I get in these psychogenic fugue states frequently where I say things without looking at them from all perspectives. I will be my downfall, certainly. I hear what you're asking and I just don't have the perfect answer. Good question--thanks! --Mike

I think you could have pointed out that a lot (most?) WSO's offer very generous guarantees , to at least cover the costs if not satisfied and that is may be a point that need to be more prominent in your guide.
Also , I recently stumbled across what I think is one of the best type of guarantee I have heard.

It's by fellow warrior Paul Barr.

I don't really believe in all that fire and brimstone. We tribesmen tend to believe in different degrees away from the inner circle, depending upon how one lives their life. Having said that, I did a little research and found out that if there were a hell, it wouldn't be so bad. Apparently, the biggest worry would be having your brains eaten while you sleep. See below for a more accurate depiction.

I will add that I am a big Meat Loaf fan. Apparently, you can drive a Harley out, if you end up there.

Is this book going to help me earn $500 in 6 days? You see, I have some major financial problems right now and have to come up with $500 for rent. I tried some WSO I purchased but nothing worked. I'm gonna write lot of negative reviews when I have some time. And also will start some threads explaining to people why article marketing is dead. It's all one big scam and I feel like the whole world is against me. I know it's just a rant, but thanks for listening :-)

Thanks for the post. It's very useful for a newbie like me to see an "insider's" perspective---someone who's been here for a while and seen the Forum grow--with all its growing pains.

Lots of things are "better" when they're newer: undervalued stocks that are "under the radar of analysts", "undiscovered" little restaurants, etc. These things change---usually for the worst---when the explorers are replaced by the masses. The United States itself is a good example: there's a (possibly apocryphal) story out there that says that the Founders really didn't EXPECT this country to last for more than about 100 years. They figured that "after the lawyers have their way with it" it would become something else entirely. So---any way you look at it, we are probably exceeding their expectations
The degree that we may have strayed off course is a matter of debate, naturally.

Forums like WF may be the exception since dynamic interchanges benefit from "network effects"---much like eBay, etc. IF something like WF can survive its growing pains, it CAN be better than ever---at least in certain ways. Your report seems like one of those important reality checks that comes along every so often (if we're lucky) to help temper that growth and keep it in the right direction.

Your report also echoes my experience as I've involved myself in WF over the last month. I've just come out of period where I had MEANT to educate myself more at IM but instead have been busy as a "warrior" for my family who really needed me 100%. That was well-spent and I am proud to have stepped up and done what was needed. But it did delay a much-needed transition to a new business model--something that I must do. In my enthusiasm, I have been one of those newbies who has probably bought too many WSO's ---asked too many ungrounded questions--etc. But I have done SOME things right and I do learn quickly.

Like you, I do want to be a positive member of WF. Here's one newbie that you can definitely say that you have had a good influence on. Thanks again for this report---it was very timely for me.

As I read the report it was against those liars that say on their sales page (be it WSO or otherwise) that if you buy this crap you will earn $5,389.12 in a week - guaranteed!
When seeing those I also reach for my Uzi...

And for digital downloads I do not offer explicitly any guarantee: you cannot return it as in the case of physical products, so it doesn't make sense to have a 'refund guarantee'.
(I am not saying I don't refund occasionally... I just don't put up any guarantee texts/badges.)

That was a great read! Though I have to say as I was making my way through it I kept thinking to myself "Is this really stuff people don't have a grasp of? It's common sense!" sadly common sense isn't all that common in this day and age.

Hey Mike,

I need $250,000 within 6 days to pay off the loan on my private jet. If I don't, they will take it away. Do you know how embarrassing that will be when I have to DRIVE my kids that I don't have to school as opposed to flying them like a real father does?

Mike, you don't want that to happen, do you? Look, I'm desperate. I'm not asking for much. I just want you to spoon feed me EXACTLY how I can make this amount of money online in 6 days.

I have been trying to get a job, I really have. I applied at Taco Bell, but they laughed at me when I told them I need $10,000 per hour. The manager is quite the negotiator - he offered $8/hour. I said "how's about $9,500?". He said "how's about $8?". I said "deal!".

So you can't accuse me of not trying and just attempting to freeload on your knowledge. I got me a job. But, if my math is correct, that will only account for about $190 out of the $250,000 I need.

I was not going to click the link until I saw a couple posts that it should be a sticky. Glad I clicked.

I loved it. My favorite part was in the section "How Do I Make Mony Online?"

That's like walking into a doctor's office and saying, "I lost my
job last week and need money. I've got 10 minutes. Can you
show me how to do a liver transplant to make some extra

income?"

It also has to be one of the best TITLES.

I was given a review copy. It is good. I would recommend it.

Guaranteed earnings are bit silly, with earnings not being the same as profits and so on but big numbers do seem to attract. It's a bling-thing I guess.

Page 9 is very good. Sage advice.

As for the wso reviews from scammers... another point to look out for is when you ask legitimate questions about a product or their claims, and they get all aggressive and threaten to have you banned etc.

As a paying customer, you are entitled to ask questions before buying.

I recall one guy claiming he made a five figure income from a WSO... what he didn't reveal was that he used a wso to drive traffic to his CB link and boost gravity.. then flip the site.

Semantics? Well maybe, but his implication was that he made the $$ from the WSO, and did not mention flipping.

When I questioned this, he replied with the mother of all verbal sprays.

Haven't seen him lately.

There's always going to be the whining right?

Mainly because most folks are employees. They've always been told what to do, they do it and even if they do it wrong they still get a stinkin' check. How weird is that?

So they come be-bopping into IM with the same expectation. "Tell me what to do, I'll barely do it and I better get paid or someone is a liar!"

Ahhhh... it's no wonder the failure rate online and offline is embarrassing.

It's not that these are bad folks, they're just trained folks.

You're damn right Sal. Some of the WSOs won't even tell you the slightest thing about the "secret technique" they are selling. It's like you go to a car dealer and they have one vehicle covered in a tarp and a sign with the price tag saying: $55,392. They won't tell you the make, model, year, mileage, anything like that... but they want you to buy it blind for 55k. Maybe it's just me, but I like to know a bit about what I'm buying before I go for it. --Mike

I think your e-book should be rquired reading for every newbie that registers here.

I thought your Rants on WSO's was particularly insightful. I have purchsed several WSO's that I felt were not up to my standards for useful information.

But ask for a refund? Never. I made the choice, I made the decision. I spent the money.

Most WSO's I have purchased have been very worthwhile investments. Some have been very mediocre. I have learned from all of them.

Shooting from the hip! A true no BS guide! ...Love it.

RE: 'serial refunders'... I'm big on quality and want to make sure that everything I put out is the very best I can offer. However... It's sad but true that when I compare my refund stats for 'normal sales' vs 'WSO sales' (of the same product), the refund rate for both of my WSO's was noticeably higher than normal sales.

(and of course, the WSO was an offer so had a much lower ticket price...)

Now those stats could be just a fluke as admittedly two WSOs is hardly a large study!

...but there is definitely a suggestion of different buying habits within the forum. So given WF is (like you say in the report) a "community"... it would be a great shame if there are 'serial refunders' stalking this friendly forum.

Great report, Mike ...and definitely gets my vote for it being 'Sticky'

For lazies out there, something important I'd like to quote from the book:

There is a ton of great information for sale in the WSO section, but there is also some 3rd rate material promoted with overly-hyped, misleading pitches. Think twice about what you buy and who you are buying it from. There is a lot of gold in there offered by some really good people, but there is also some slag. Be an intelligent, thoughtful buyer.

As a newbie I thought maybe this would help me through the minefield of Scammers, Con artist, and “I made 20 zillion dollars whilst I slept last night and so can you?? Brigade

You know the sales pitch
Just send me $20 and I will show you how” Now surely even the most gullible of people can’t be taken in by that! Can they?? I see it that if this person is making zillions of dollars in their sleep I think this is so good of them to share this awesome information with me during their waking hours and for OH such a small sum of money. Kidding.

But going back to the book, I laughed I was embarrassed, and was ashamed. After all 24 pages I read it again. I agree that it would make a great introduction FREEBIE when someone joins the forum (maybe the mods will consider it).

I have taken snippets from your book and pasted them in to word doc and I have printed them out (hope this does not infringe copyrights) and I am going to use them as guides and inspiration posters.

So a big thank you for educating a total newbie within a few minutes.

I am going to go back and do some more reading, and maybe I will find the goose that lays the golden eggs, as opposed to the vulture that prays on the vulnerable newbie.
