Facebook Is Not A Bad Marketing System After all

After running an advert on Facebook for $100, i was shocked when it generated 5,517 clicks and more than 2 million impressions. A good number turned into sales. Who says that Facebook is not a good marketing system, give it a trial and you may be as happy as i am now. I have decided to continuously use it to advertise my website/blog

    Wow! Congratulations on those results!

I think the problem with most people is the fear of losing something like $100. From what I have seen, your results aren't exactly typical, and the large number of people who have made zero sales using that marketing platform outnumber the successful ones.

I lost quite a bit of money with facebook following some pretty poor guides in the past. Though I have to say, the ability to narrow down the demographics you want to target with facebook is unmatched.

I was ultimately turned off by facebook advertising after having something like 20 ads declined back to back, all of which appeared to follow and comply to every guideline and rule I could find. That and the inability to actually contact, or get an answer from anybody working there.

Though your results may just have inspired me to give it another shot sometime in the near future .

Yeah I've been having the same issue with them. The problem is they are not specific about why they disapprove them. I've also written about 2 dozen ads that keep getting denied.

I do have one that is pulling some good steady leads every day. The funny thing is, when I tweak it they tell me the content is not allowed to be promoted on facebook, although it is for the same website/landing page with the one I have running.

I personally think they have a bunch of idiots working in the ads department because I keep finding ways to get those "unapproved" ads to get "approved" HAHAH I swear they are fat idiots!!

If you're struggling to make ads profitable, try sending the ad to a 1 page site first to warm the prospect up.

Also, most people on the FBX system are referring clicks to amazon by having the ad point to a facebook fan page reviewing the product.

So you are saying you are paying $0.02 (2 cents) per click?

    $100 divided by 5517 = $0.018 rounded up gives 2 cents.

I have never heard of anyone getting clicks THAT low.

      Will,
I think that is what people are finding so appealing about Facebook, the ability to generate clicks for a low cost.

Lately I've seen some pretty good guides on how to properly use facebook ads.

I'm a bit behind on it but do want to get started because the potential is there. Especially if you have the combination of the right product, right ad and right set of demographics.

      Respectfully,
      Tim

FWIW, I am seeing more and more that Facebook is intertwined in some way with most IM efforts--either straight up or as an assumed viral consequence (Share button or plug-in).

I don't have an actual product or even a blog yet but I am close I've been doing lots of strategic planning and resource acquisition since before Christmas. Integrating this forum into my understanding has both delayed and enriched my upcoming actions in ways that I couldn't have imagined.

Back to Facebook: I have acquired some good material from Zach Booker (on this forum) which I have skimmed and need to get back to. Also from Sam Bakker, who seems to be on his way to becoming an authority on Facebook marketing. I've had Marlon Sanders' "Facebook Big" on my hard drive for a while. Any suggestions on where I should focus would be appreciated. Revisiting my Zach Booker WSO is probably stop #1

I am just going by the figures the OP posted. They do go much lower than 80 - 90 cents though. I regularly have a Cost per Click of around 10 - 20 cents but I had never heard of them being so low as 2 cents per click.

Facebook ads is like any other paid traffic. You have to know your demographics and know how the Facebook sales funnel works best for your offer. All this takes some testing and money spent. Typically I spend $50 - $150 to really dial in a Facebook ads campaign.

I believe PPC is pointless with facebook, a lot of money, for a whole lot of nothing. However, paying for impressions seems to respond better. Had 315,000 impressions and about 200 clicks for $85. Only seven visits actually converted into free memberships on my forum.

None of them have posted xD.

You don't even need to spend money to make money on facebook. If you can make a fanpage or a group relating to your niche you can make money. You need to be able to get targeted users to hit like. Then you can start promoting to your list on a constant basis. Facebook is against spam but they allow you to send mass messages if they are in your group or on your friends list.

Well done jonat 2005, that is an incredible result..

I have tried Facebook ads for both products and opt ins and found getting opt ins easier.

However it does depend, you really need to warm " potential buyers up"
I think by sending them to a landing page with great content & reviews first, rather than sending them direct to an order page.

I don't think the average Facebooker is waiting around, credit card in hand waiting to buy something?

Facebook PPC works well if you really know what you're doing. I have been playing around with them for a few months, but lately they are getting very picky about what they allow and how you structure your ads. One of my ads was pulling good leads on a daily basis, when I tried to make a similar one to get the cost per lead down, they disapproved my ad along with the one that was already running for about a month.

They don't tell you why they disapprove them either. Yes they are a HUGE pain in the ass to work with if you're promoting anything along the lines of internet marketing, traffic generation, or biz opps.

Funny thing is, you can submit the same ads from different accounts and sometimes they disapprove one, and approve the other. Its weird but it works!
