Hey everyone,

Can someone give me an idea on what to expect to pay to have a WP website moved to a new server?

Actually, I have 5 or so of them I need to have moved. One is an affiliate website and the others are just general content blogs.

Can someone give me an idea of what I should expect to pay for this?

Thanks!

If you use vps.net its free. Otherwise someone who knows what they are doing can do it in under an hour each. So just multiply that by a normal rate. Like $50 or $75 per hour.

Just to move from one server to another should be free.

It is a simple process for the most part depending on the host.

Moving a wordpress blog to new hosting account should take no more then 10-15 minutes. It's not that complicated once you do it a few times.

I really don't know how much it should cost, but you can do it yourself and save some money.

The process consists of the following:
      - update the DNS servers in your domain name registrar to point to the new hosting account
      - compress the whole wp site and download the .zip file
      - backup and export the database from myphp admin
      - create a new account on the new server
      - create a new database and user on the new server
      - upload and extract the compressed wp site
      - import the database to the new account
      - edit the config.php file with the new database details: name, user and password

      You're done.

I know it sounds complicated if you have never done it before, but it really is a simple process.
There is a detailed explanation on how to that on flippa: https://flippa.com/help/transfer-a-wordpress-site

I have all my flipped sites moved by a lady who charges just $10, she is completely trustworthy with my cpanel logins etc, and gets the sites moved quickly and reliably. I'm sure I could learn how to do it myself, but there are other things I can do that are a better use of my time.

If you get the wptwin plugin you should be able to move all of your sites yourself.

It's a paid plugin, costs $97, but you might find that it is a handy plugin to have in your Wordpress toolbox.

Wp Twin (not an affiliate link).

I use it and it works well.

moving site to a new server is nothing complicated to me even i never study or learn anything on web design, php or html before but due to my bad experience with hostings, i have recently change 5 hosts in justt one month and now got much experience with site migration and it is really easy to do it.
