When I woke up this morning and checked the mail I saw that I had an envolope from google that I thought was weird.

So I opened it up and BOOM! I saw a $100 gift card for adwords.

Don't know why I got one but its cool

Time to put it to good use.

Says on the back that it drops from $100 to $75 on feb 18. 2011 then fully expires on March 18, 2011.

Time to put it to good use soon

Isn't that for new adword accounts only?

Between Google and Hostgator I've received 4 so far. Only used one, of course, but it was nice to be able to profit a bit from their 'gift.'

I used to get them all the time from Google Analytics. I remember being disappointed when it told me I had to create an account.

Google sent me one of those a while back. I hadused Adwords extensively, but had slowed down for several months and focused on Facebooke ads.

I think it was a friendly bribe from Google to bring me back.

Google has been using this marketing tactic for years so it must be very beneficial for them.

I've heard stories of people being charged beyond the $100 credit, which is probably where they profit from it, as well as bringing in new customers who continue to use the service.

I don't use adwords but it seems like a heck of a way to generate business and revenue.

Send out the $100 card. New account, required CC. People set up ads, budgets, etc and forget.

It's probably not the most ethical way to do things but it happens in every industry in the world. People forget about free trails.

Yes and they put that it is for new accounts only in the fine print usually...so best to check as you don't want to waste time setting up a campaign only to find you do not qualify if you already have an account.
