Windows Movie Maker question

If I have a .MSWMM video with a text overlay, I can see and edit the text overlay. I have the same video in .wmv, but I can't edit the text overlay.

Should I be able to? Does windows movie maker only allow edits of .mswmm files?

The last Vista update toasted my WMM.

    I've moved on to VideoSpin.

If I have a .PSD graphic with a text layer, I can see and edit the text layer. I have the same graphic in .jpg, but I can't edit the text layer.

This is because the .jpg format doesn't have layers and doesn't do text. It is a display format; it is supposed to be used when the image is done. But the .PSD format is an editing format - it is supposed to be used while the image is being created and modified.

Similarly, the .wmv format is a display format, and the .MSWMM format is an editing format.
