What is a safe amount to withdraw from paypal?

I have a bit over 5k in my paypal account. And since I have seen posts in the past saying that paypal raises a flag when you withdraw too much money to your bank account, I want to avoid that as much as possible.

There's no problem with how I made the money. That's not my concern. It's just that I don't want my account to be limited because a lot of money will flow through my paypal account from now on.

So, back to the thread question: what is a safe amount to withdraw from paypal to your bank account?

I withdraw in 4k chunks and never had a problem. I also make sure I leave at least 1k in there at all times to cover refunds etc.

    Cheers

I usually keep a minimum of $200 in there at all time, then again, I don't have that many high ticket items, so $200 really covers a lot of refunds.

I personally have found Paypal's telephone customer service department to be very friendly and helpful. If you give them a quick call, I'm sure they could tell you if they have a limitation on it. Unless you are doing something illegal, they are pretty easy to work with. Hope this helps!

Actually that has little to do with it from PayPal's perspective (from what I understand based on my experiences, and the experiences of people I know).

PayPal has various internal grading factors that determine their perceived RISK of your account. While I do not know what all of these factors are, I believe some of them include the age of your account, whether it's verified, your credit score, your sales track record, refund record, complaint record, etc.

If you've not done much sales volume in the past, then suddenly did $5k, and withdrew all of it, I would say that it COULD raise a red flag for PayPal.

Even if your sale was completely above board, they don't know if you're a spammer, or if you're someone who is cash-starved and may leave your customers hanging if they request a refund later. I don't know if $5k is a big enough number for them to do an internal investigation, but if it is, they would likely look at your credit history and determine how much of a risk you are to them.

If they determine you're a risk, they may temporarily freeze your account, or even close your account, depending on the level of risk.

When such PayPal users do very high volume of sales ($50k+ in short period of time, based on the situations I've seen), PayPal will take notice and do an investigation regardless of whether you've withdrawn any money. They want to opportunity to freeze those funds before you withdraw them, to minimize their risk.

So in conclusion, if your account is verified, good track record with PayPal, and you have a good credit history, I would not worry about withdrawing the $5k.

If you are lacking any of the above, you might consider keeping the funds in your account for 60 days, to help build up your track record with PayPal.

IMO- I'm not a PayPal insider, just dealt with them a lot, and I still like them and use them.

I think there is less problem if you transfer to a verified checking account, assuming that you leave enough in the checking account to cover any refunds or contested income. I have never had anyone ask for a refund, so maybe I am off base.

Just make sure that you are not getting charged extra fees to withdraw your funds. I have seen at times where it says you can only take out $500 per month - but, if you want to take out more, they charge you a fee. No since in paying a fee if you don't really need the money right now. Just start taking it out in the amounts allowed with incurring extra fees.

I agree with the sensible comments above, as long as you leave some in for a buffer, it shouldnt cause any issues.

And Paypal are really good with dealing with any issues, why not give them a call if you have any major concerns.

It depends on the pattern you have withdrew from Paypal. Don't make sudden high amount of increases and also leaving no funds in your account. Other than that, any amount is fine. Just make sure your move is sensible

I don't see a limit. But you better to keep some amount likes $500 and withdraw rest. I always do like that and don't get any problems.
