Does Exit Pop Up tool increase your sales?

You may have seen this. You are on a sales page and you click on the close button then a pop up comes up to tell you about the promotion they are having blah blah blah.....

I was wondering if the exit pop up window have proven to help you increase sales significantly or is it ok to drop this idea.

I asked because I am using exit rescue plugin for WP and one problem I face is that it include my squeeze page in the pop up....

So whenever someone type in their email details, a pop up appear, which is not what I wanted. So I am considering dropping the exit pop up idea.

Is it worth having it on your website?

There are people who find exit popups annoying, myself included. If they've already been to your site and decided to leave after looking, I do not really think that an exit popup will convince them to stay or to suddenly sign up or buy what you have to offer.

You'll need to test it and see if an exit-pop is best for
    your OWN traffic.

Some scripts such as ActionPopUp by Robert Plank can
    work well:

Action PopUp: Attention-Grabbing Unblockable PopUps When Your Visitors Leave the Page... (no affil.)

I find other scripts such as Exit Splash irritating as a
visitor and refuse to use them on my own sites -
regardless the improvements they may - or may not -
    produce.

I treat people how I like to be treated so will not use
    multiple exit-pops.

      Test the popup.

Yes they annoy people but they work too. You will have to test it with and without

They can be used to build a list of subscribers, which can in turn be used to promote too.

I personally find your Action Pop Up example more irritating than the exit pop up, mainly because it dims the light, interferes with my concentration and forces me to fill a form I am not ready to. The exit pop up does not interfere until I have finished reading the page and decided I want to leave.

Regardless of their reputations, both do work to increase conversions.

      Just my opinion.

        I agree.

        That's not an exit-pop - it's an entry-pop. And the
autoplay audio makes it all the more irritating for me
        as a visitor.

Only Robert knows which set-up works best for him
        and his visitors.

There's a lot of flexibility with Robert Plank's Action
Pop-up and you can choose if, when and how to use
the various pop-ups - if at all.

As with any Internet Marketing tool, it comes down
to how you want to use it.

I could implement tools like Exit Splash but I choose
not to - no matter what the potential increase in
        immediate conversion rates.

Have you seen WP Lapdance by Devon Brown, it costs $7 and is a very slick alternative. I leaves you alone if you browse the site but attempt to leave and it kicks in. Better still it gets rid of that boring gray box, the pop up can be anything, e.g a you tube video of a performance of "if you leave me now" etc.

I am not an affiliate of his but won't post the link in case I get trolled by mods, just google it. It is worth subscribing to his mail list because he is so funny.

Yes pop ups can be annoying in some instances but at the end of the day they do work.

Action Pop Up is configurable to go off at various times so you can test what works best for you.

I'm afraid this doesn't necessarily follow at all.

I'm not saying they don't work (I've only seen them thoroughly tested three times, with clients, and they were actually abandoned after the testing all three times, but that's not necessarily relevant either), but the logic here isn't quite right. There are many, many things used in internet marketing simply because people copy them, saying to themselves "they 'must' work: if they weren't effective, you wouldn't be seeing them used so prevalently."

It's actually no more than a self-fulfilling prophecy and it really isn't evidence that they work.

There are thousands of sales pages for e-book products at Clickbank saying "Only 9 copies remaining" and all sorts of stuff like this. People do that because they imagine "If it wasn't effective, you wouldn't be seeing it used so prevalently". These people have no idea how many sales they're losing from having that on their sales page. I'm "just saying".

Has it made me more sales No,
But when I offer something Free they Bite and sign up
    adding to my mailing list.
I myself am not annoyed by one pop up, it's the idiots
who do it 3 times in a row that ruin it.

All pop-ups (entry, exit, or whatever) are annoying as all hell. LOL.

But they're kinda like the Spice Girls, Vanilla Ice, or Limp Bizkit - everybody you talk to thinks they suck and never listened to them, yet they all sold zillions of CDs and sold out countless concerts.

Everybody says they hate pop-ups, but a good number of people (the majority maybe?) who have used them have increased conversions. I know I have. So they keep getting used.

(And for the record, I still have a Vanilla Ice tape somewhere in my closet... ;-)

I have scraped the exit pop up idea because the last thing I want is to annoy my audience.....Yes, it may work and it may somehow increase sales...but I rather have a good number of subscribers who are loyal to be because of the quality of the products than becasue of the IM tricks I learn somewhere else.
