Need Input and Advice on Fashion / Fashion Accessories Product Sales

Hi Everyone,

Over the past couple months I've been involved with a fashion brand that a friend started, Factorybrand, that currently produces leather belts and buckles. We're planning on expanding to other fashion accessories in the near future, but are trying to get some consistent cash flow first.

We've been wholesaling to boutique shops across the country for some time, and I thought we'd open up another revenue stream through an online store that sells direct to consumers (you can view the website at Factorybrand :: Leather Belts and Buckles and the webstore at Shop).

While a lot of internet marketing here is geared towards information products or affiliate marketing, I know I could learn SOO much from the community here as an online retailer.

So the question I'd like to pose, is:

If you were running the show, what steps would you be taking to drive traffic to the store and convert that traffic?

(If anyone is interested in an affiliate program, please let me know, too!!)

    Hi adarwish,

Looks like a cool site/shop/products you've got there...

First thing I would do is make sure your website address is on all literature that you send out, starting with your business cards, brochures, and especially on the tags on the products themselves.

Any other offline way you are advertising at the moment, make sure you add the website address to it.

If you were running the show, what steps would you be taking to drive traffic to the store and convert that traffic?
That's a very open question... there are a million ways to drive traffic to a website... could you make it a bit more specific and tell us what ways of traffic you are already doing/plan to do/ so we don't cover things that you are already aware of?

I have a good post about basic link building/ traffic generation at my personal blog, and a more advanced post at my Warrior Blog that should give you some ideas to start:

Hope that helps, and good luck with your Factorybrand venture!

      Jared,

Thanks you for the response and the links to your posts about generating traffic. I've started working on the things you suggest in your posts.

So far, we have the website address on all our products and print materials (including invoices and business cards). When the site launched, we were generating 20-40 direct visits a day without any online promotion at all.

I've since put up a facebook page and a myspace page, and submitted a press release through pr.com and free-press-release.com. I'll have to submit it through the other PR sites you recommend.

I'm going to look into writing articles for ezinearticles.com and the other sites, too. In doing all this, though, I'm trying to prioritize what would give the greatest ROI. Time is money, so I want to make sure I complete the most effective tactics first.

That said, I know that being featured on fashion blogs or fashion shopping sites would put us in front of the right crowd. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about making that happen?
