Getting started with facebook

Hi Warriors

I am about to launch an ecommerce site, and have been interested in getting a facebook fan page going, I think my site would lend itself to facebook!

I have never used facebook, and have no clue where to start, does anyone know of a good training course in setting up and using facebook?

    First thing you will do is of course create an account and invite many friends as you can. After that create a page.

    First thing I did (after having set up a Facebook account and gotten to know Facebook) was to take a look at a number of popular Facebook pages. Also, read a number of case studies on blogs like Mashable. Facebook also has a great page called Facebook Marketing Solutions.

      You should definitely model yourself after what other e-commerce sites are already doing successfully on facebook.

      find out what works, try it. figure out what works for you, and do more of that.

    Create standard Facebook account first. Make sure you get your friends, and their friends, to become your Facebook friends. After this, set up a fan page. It is easy and there are plenty of tutorials. You could watch examples on Youtube, or just do an internet search. I would imagine there is also plenty of help available through Facebook help pages too.

    I'm def not a fan of Facebook when it comes to personal stuff (major time sucker!) but I love it for business.

    I've just written a step by step guide to getting your FB business page up and running the right way (report & videos). It will take you through the basics ie:
    - creating a page
    - type of page to create
    - page name tips
    - creating custom pages (very powerful)
    - setting your landing tab
    - adding an opt in form
    - where to go to start promoting your page

    Not sure I can add a link here but if you click on my user name to the top left it will show under 'Visit LibbyC's homepage' Or signature link will get you there via my blog.

    Feel free to opt in, grab it then opt out again! Seriously, I mean that. Strange words for an online marketer I know, but I like to do things a bit differently

    I'm just in the process of adding a couple more basic videos for people who haven't had any experience with Facebook ie: not even a personal profile, just going through how the wall works, privacy settings etc.

    Facebook rocks! and fanpages are a great place to start! For fan pages I highly recommend Jo Barnes. Find her on FB under her page called Free Fan Page Templates.
