Social Bookmarking Question

When you do a new post on your website then decide to add it to some social bookmark sites like digg, stumbleupon, etc... do you bookmark the url for the post or just your sites main page url?

Also, does bookmarking the url give a permanent backlink to that url too?

I'm certainly no expert on this but as soon as I create a fresh page / post of content I bookmark the url for that new page at a few sites. Yes, the bookmarking creates a backlink. Whether it is permanent or not who can say really. I don't really consider any of the backlinks I create to be permanent unless they are on properties I own. That being said, yeah I can still see bookmark backlinks to my pages in SiteExplorer and Google Webmaster that I created a year or more ago.

    Hello mate,
I am assuming you are using wordpress as a base, whenever you make a post please bookmark yourdomain.com/category/postname this makes sure the particular post gets a backlink from the social bookmarking (provided its a do-follow because many social bookmarking sites out there are no-follow)
    I hope that helps
    Thank You,

Yes, bookmark the actual post. You only need to bookmark the main page once.

You have to bookmark the permalink of the article you just posted and its not the homepage.
