I think I have gone wrong

I have been "attempting" internet marketing for about 6 months and about 3 months properly. I have tried the usual stuff. And I enjoy doing most things. I had a thread about 3 weeks ago that said how can I make $180 in 14 days. Now cutting the story I eventually made $120 in 14 days, this was okay but at the end of the month I was at a lost again. (aweber, domains, hosting, software.)

I recently made a list of things I would like to achieve in February (goals), if possible I would like some systems, ideas, software, ways that you would go around tackling these goals (aims). But first I guess you need to know where I am. So here goes: I have 2 sites to do with cure insomnia but none are anywhere on google both selling a cure insomnia ebook that is very effective but I have only had 1 sale. I have a few hubpages making $1/2 a day via CPA and adsense. I have a how to make money online video on youtube 4th for that search term, bringing in about $1/2 a day. I am involved with gdi and have 4/5 direct sign ups. I have previously done hubpage reviews of products and made some sales via that. I am currently making a MLM ebook.

So that is where I am at, now the tools I have got:
Xrumer, aweber, scrapebox and senuke and some other software. - The main problem is I do not know how to use many of them, especially xrumer it is very confusing.

So now to the GOALS(AIMS):
1.) $200 in clickbank - Should be okay but not sure how to do it, should I continue with reviews, set up affiliate site?

2.) 4 GDI sign ups - I have a video 4th on youtube, which brings in a couple a month but would like a few more.

3.) $500 in paypal from cure insomnia sites. - This is my main aim, but my site is no where in google at the moment, how can I get it higher? - The software I got will help but because I do not know how to use it, it is not helping at the moment.

4.) Cure Insomnia Site on page 1 of google.

They are my goals. If anyone has any ideas, courses, tutorials for software, anything that may help then please comment below.

THANKS.

P.S. - Steelers for the win tonight .

  • Try this: create three goals: short mid and long.

Long should be something you can create slowly overtime like a blog with a big following.

Medium should be something that can make you money in like two months, so an ebook.

For short term, your current goal is fine.

      Okay so editied:

Long term goal: Have 10 niche aurority sites on page 1 of google.

Mid term goal: Get more sales of cure insomnia + more gdi sign ups.

short term goal(s): Page 1 of google for cure insomnia.

You need to make your goals more specific.

I will learn about "function" of Xrumer today. You really need to break these goals down more, and create micro-goals.

          Tom,

You made $120 in 14 days, well done.

That may not have been the total amount you wanted but it was a jolly valiant effort.

What did you do to get that money and can you scale it up?

If you found a way to make money, don't now run off in another direction and seek a new way.

At least give this a bit more of a chance first.

I am a firm believer in quality content. That being said my advice is that ranking well on Google is all about original content and in-bound links. So with that in mind ranking well on Google will take some time.

Sounds like your concentrating on affiliate marketing. So that's a numbers game. Since your only earning small commissions you have to be promoting many products to make really good money.

If you put out your own products than you only need a few.

But these are just my opinions, I'm fairly new at this also.

This is "common knowledge", but have you done a competitive analysis of the sites on the first page of google for your niche? That will give you details of the target you need to be aiming for.

Market Samurai will give you a birds-eye view of the top 10 sites including both on page and off page SEO factors. This will show you what you need to do to at least get to page one.

Darryl Peddle gave an advanced competitive research "course" in StomperNet that I consider to be worth the total fees I paid for the year I was a member. It would be well worth the $200/mo to join for a month and download his information. If you do, realize he is not even remotely talking basics, and you will need to have some understanding of competitive research to get much value from his presentations.

    Marvin

PS - David Wilkerson is or was a faculty member of StomperNet and lives over in the UK. From what I remember, he is probably 16 now, was in school, and was doing about $150K a year from IM. He might also be a resource for you.

    Tom,
First of all, I want to commend you on digging in and getting things rolling. You've taken action, seen results...and are obviously hungry for more.

I'll second the statement above that the problem I see is that your goals aren't really actionable...and here is what I mean by that:

4.) Cure Insomnia Site on page 1 of google.
Think about this for a minute...when your "brain" engages on this step, it's not specific enough to really get "closure" on the idea.

You need to break this down into very specific steps...and one easy way is to work backwards from your goal by asking yourself, "Can I do this tomorrow?" and "What would I have to do first tomorrow to accomplish this goal?"

So, using this idea, we may end up with an actions list like this:

    1. Research the other sites ranking #1-9 for Cure Insomnia and find out how many links they have, and any other factors that might be affecting their rankings.

    2. Determine how many backlinks you need to get to the site and schedule the time to get those links.

    3. Determine what on page changes need to be made to make improve the SEO.

    4. Get X number of backlinks over the next 5 days. (XX backlinks per day)

    5. Make X, Y, Z, changes to the content of the site

    etc...

You need to break down the steps to actual physical actions you can perform...and then place them in the order that they can be done.

I think that once you do this, you'll feel quite a bit clearer about what you need to do, where you are headed, and how long it will take to get there.

BTW, these ideas are not mine...and I'd recommend you read more about this concept in David Allen's great book, Getting Things Done (if you haven't had a chance to get it yet, it's awesome, and really helped me out quite a bit when I read it a few years ago!)

Wish you all the best and look forward to hearing about your raving sucess!

Having found some methods that bring in money have you tried scaling up or repeating them with another product/niche.

I started out trying different things until I found something that brought in some money. I stuck with this and it is now beginning to pay off.

I am now looking at how I can branch out using the same (or better if I can find any) ideas and method.

My suggestion is to take some time, get some tutorials, and learn how to use your tools.

The software you have can be extremely powerful once you know how to use them.

Of the tools you listed, I would go in this order (assuming you already have aweber up and running)
    1. Scrapebox
    2. SE Nuke
    3. Xrummer

They are all solid, this is just my personal preference - especially if you are learning them all from scratch.
