Paypal protect yourself with digital goods

I've been scammed a couple of times on paypal by people claiming they didn't get their digital product and they won the case. Obviously I ended up losing. What do you guys suggest on protecting yourself from that happening again?

I thought paypal had a policy that non-tangible goods aren't covered by buyer protection?? I've had a similar experience and just provide a download link in the claim & mention that the product is digital.

    Peter76,
This is one of those really unfortunate things that is just going to happen from time to time.

Paypal almost always sides with the buyer. One thing that can help is if you can provide proof of an ip address download...then PayPal can match that ip address to the address the customer used to login to their account...

Again...in most cases PayPal will simply side with the other person...but it is worth a try.

    All the best,

I've had maybe a 10% success rate from doing just this.

You pretty much just have to accept it and then try and block them from buying anything else from you in the future.

Here we go again with misinformation.

Palypals buyer protection does not cover digital goods - so the seller always wins.

But you have to escalate to a claim and indicate digital goods. Make sure you put the download link in the comments section.

I have NEVER in almost six years lost a dispute as a seller!

See intangible goods here for proof.

    From that site:
The seller's listing is for a physical item – services and intangible items aren't covered.

That has been my experience too. Once escalated and noted that the product was digital, the claim was denied to the purchaser.

I've been saying this for years but it seems like few ever listen. PayPal will side with the buyer if you escalate the claim and clearly state it is a digital product, but most people won't do this then will complain that they lose disputes and blame everything and everyone but themselves...

"Make sure you put the download link in the comments section." what do you mean by that?

Thank you! I sure wish people who use PayPal would take 5 minutes to read their policies. There are threads about this subject almost every day and people still don't get it.
