The Purchasing of a Product from a Website - What Steps Are There?

Hi All...
Just wondering if any of you out there in Warrior land wouldn't mind outlining (or pointing me in the right direction to find them) the steps that are involved (or should be!) when someone buys a product off your website.

Eg...
1. Click the Order Button (either for full sale or double payment, unless that options comes up when they 'cancel'
2. Next....
3. Next....

Otherwise if you could suggest someone's site to check out regarding this it would be great.

    There are lots of different "funnels" but the simplest
    would be "click order button > pay > redirect to download page"

    If you want to add in something more advanced like
    adding that customer to a customer list then it looks
    like this "click > pay > register > download"

    Then you can add in upsells and downsells...

    click > upsell > pay > register > download

    or

    click > pay > upsell > pay > register > download

    Lots of ways you can experiment with increasing
    how many sales per visitor you get from your site.
    Don't over optimize so much that you forget about
    delivering a good user experience too.
