Full Time IMers, How Do You Spend Your Day?
Actually it is kind of a medium post, I just wanted to get your attention.
Hey everyone, I hope this doesn't come off as a dumb post, but I have an opportunity to really dive in to IM full time and hopefully get something going, so I am looking for a little advice from everyone.
I got into internet marketing about 8 months ago, but have only earned roughly $60.00. Originally, I just found HTML kind of fun and wanted to make a website for kicks, but than I gradually learned that you can make money on the web, and eventually I stumbled upon the warrior forum and from there I basically decided that this is what I want to do for a living.
I guess I did go through my phase of thinking you can make quick money on the internet, but that quickly faded and luckily I realized that it takes a lot of hard work and that is partially what this thread is about.
I have heard horror stories of people spending multiple thousands of dollars on the next best course that promises to teach you how to earn hundreds per day on clickbank, or how to cash in big with google adsense.
Sure maybe some people get lucky, but I think 90% of people that fall into this trap will never make it work. I have purchased only a couple of WSO and honestly they taught me very much about building backlinks and on-page SEO.
So to get to my query, I would really love a good bit of simple advice from some internet marketers that do this full time for a living. But before I do let me just say a few things about where I am at in my IM career.
First off, I have roughly 6 or 7 sites, but I only work with about 4 of them. A few of them are test sites, and I purchased those domains when I was first starting out and wasn't very good at keyword research. They really aren't worth doing much with. (My writing has come a long way since then) I am honestly kind of embarrassed with them.
I do have a business plan, and eventually I would like to build some authority sites but I don't know enough about some aspects of web design at this time to really get going in that.
OK, enough chat about my silly sites, here are my questions and keep in mind that I am not trying to get anyone to tell me their secrets (not that anyone would), I am simply trying to figure out and build a good schedule for my day. I really enjoy spending my time working on this business, I just loathe spending all my time working for others. *I live in Alaska and work out in the blistering cold.............*
Actually I should mention that my wife and I are having our first child, which incidentally is allowing me to take some time of work through FMLA. I opted to take at least two months off, and this is really why I am trying to build a good work schedule for myself.
So here goes with my main questions:
How many hours per day do you spend building backlinks? Or do you outsource them? This whole subjects gives me craps!!!
*I read a nice Ebook from a fellow warrior that gave me a much better understanding of how google views backlinks*
Basically it is my fault, I don't really know how to go about getting backlinks, and therefore my traffic is low. If anyone would be kind enough to maybe give me a rough idea of what I should be doing to get traffic, that would be awesome.
I have a feeling though, that I am going to get a tongue lashing for doing this for 8 months and only making $60.00
I really like adding content to my sites, but I just can't seem to understand the whole process of submitting my content to RSS feeds, or Social websites, and making bookmarks.....
I have used Social Marker alot, but I hate it and don't really understand how the whole thing works. I hate to admit it, but that is the truth.
The sad thing is I have learned many things about web design and IM except the traffic part, which involves social bookmarking and web 2.0 sites. I absolutely hate "FACEBOOK"!
But I think I am more or less a stick in the mud. I am 29 years old but act like a 60 year old!
Writing articles to gain backlinks is alright but gets a bit repetitive. And just so you know, I do understand the whole duplicate content Vs syndicated contented debate.
I don't ever use Ezine articles (although I should) simply because it takes so long for them to review material. I much prefer getting articles on my site indexed first and then submitting articles to about 5 other sites. Articlesbase being my favorite.
*I could use a nice slap in the face because I have content, but I am not doing a very good job of promoting it!!!!!!!!*
Here is a list of the sites I actually care about:
www.bestguitaramplifiers.(dot)net *first amazon review site*
www.myguitarlessonsforbeginners.(dot)com *rather sloppy*
www.bestkayaksforsale.(dot)net *like this one actually*
www.learnastronomy.(dot)net *favorite, have Javescript stuff*
In about a month, our boy will be born and I know it is going to be tough, but I also realize that I will have the freedom to work on my IM like never before.
Who ever decided that working ten hours a day for another company is what we were destined to do?????
I wish I could punch them in the face!!!!
Sorry this thread has taken so long. I am simply looking for:
Time spent gaining backlings:
Time spent writing original content:
Time spent learning about search engines:
Time spent creating products:
Time spent emailing your list:
Time spend realizing that you need a List???
I don't have a list, and I am not sure if I need one.... I am simply wondering how others spend their time....
