I've noticed plenty of threads along the lines of - 'I'm just starting out what should I buy?'
If that's you then put you're wallet down and step away from the sales page.

Before you think about buying anything spend some time working out what it is you want to do or learn - this can be done for free by asking questions or looking around the forum.

Its a dangerous place out there for a newbie walking around unarmed.
If you're wondering along aimlessly looking for something to buy you'll empty your wallet pretty damn fast, cause you'll be buying dreams, when whats being sold is information - most probably good information but if you buy a course on say product creation based on the sales page, without being sure that's what you want to do then guess what? - you've just wasted your dough, cause the buzz wears off and that product (which may well be the dogs danglers) will just gather dust on your hard drive.

I like money and time - I wasted a lot of both years back, don't do the same

Sure buy products - there's plenty of good stuff out there - just decide what you want to learn first - then go looking for answers, that way you'll stand a better chance of getting value and not end up loosing your motivation

Just my 2 cents

Enjoy the ride

this is good advice but i as a sort-of-a-little-wiser-than-brand-new-newbie can tell you, without guidance there is no where to go but twittling your thumbs. it took me finding a quality WSO with incredible reviews and continous assistence from the WSO producer to really get up and get going.

if not for him and his product and i would still be wondering what to do.

in theory, you can tell newbies to research keyword strategies, learn wordpress, scour the warriorforum etc but without proper guidance a newbie will have maybe steps 3 and steps 17 down without properly learning the whole process. steps 3 and 17 alone won't make you any money!

you can dig a giant hole looking for gold but unless something (maybe a hint of gold or your metal detector going off) triggers you to a certain path, you'll just be wasting your time and efforts.

for me, buying something was the best thing i could do to start off with.

By all means buy products - I do and I've spent good money on mentoring and seminars etc
I just think people can get themselves into trouble if they let a sales page or something make their decisions for them - If you don't know what article marketing is and you buy a product cause it tells you its the best thing ever then you find out its not for you you've wasted your money and time - but the product may be amazing.

Yeh - and as a student of copywriting Im not blaming them - that's their job, you just owe it to yourself to work out if whats being offered is a good fit for YOU.
Someone could make a course on xyz sound very tempting to me but if it's right for me for whatever reason I would have wasted my money, and I may even feel some resentment to the seller - but I should have taken responsibility for my purchase.

Just thinking a bit first will help you make a good decision and make it more likely that you take action - which is the ONLY way you will ever make any of the green stuff

Independent learners do best in the IM world, it seems. Most of the time, you can find the answer to your question through search at WF or at Google. So many ways to make money online these days, it seems any method will work given enough effort and time. Pick some monetization that suits your personality, roll up your sleeves, and dig in. Come here to search for answers. Go to Google and YouTube for videos on how to do things. There doesn't seem to be a topic that is not covered in the area of internet marketing...

    1. You either have your own product or you don't.
    2. Decide if you want your own product or not.
    3. If you want your own product, research what consumers need to buy and design your product.
    4. If you don't want your own product, research products that have affiliate marketing and identify a product that consumers want.
    5. Build a website.
    6. Drive traffic to the website.

All these topics are covered here at Warrior Forum.

Diane has pretty much nailed this process, IMO. All I would add is that You Tube provides a pretty much amazing treasure trove of "how to" stuff (in IM, but in a heck of a lot of other arenas too! I learned a lot......)
