Do you need unique content....

.....when writing hub pages? I so far know that only the likes of Buzzle ask for unique content but also think that this may apply to a hub page? Or maybe unique content may just improve your hub score?

Appreciate if anyone knows the answer to this and also would updating a hub with fresh content like a blog help to improve your ranking/hub score?

Many thanks!

I have personally noticed that google will rank a Hubpage article very high if the content is extremely unique to Hubpages.

So yes, I would say make it completely unique.

That is not completely true. I have several hubs using unmodified PLR content that rank well for their keywords. Competition is a huge factor when it comes to hubs, even those with unique content.

Thanks for your comments. I only ever notice one hub ranked under a keyword, is this so.... BloggingPro, can you offer any tips about the competition and how you figure this? Also do you ever update a hubpage just for the purpose of increasing ranking/hub score?

I have never gone back and updated a hubpage to my knowledge (I currently have one account with 300+ hubs). I go for terms that have worldwide searches of at least 1600 but less than 3200 per month. I use SEOQuake to determine competition.

I'm not sure about their Terms of Service but I have a feeling it should be unique content. I always use unique content for hubpages.
