If you want to change it up, you can do:

    youraffiliateid.productvendor.clickbank.net

You can also create a redirect using your affiliate link.

Also to note, a lot of websites that can be affiliated will provide you with a beautified affiliate link. For example, my eBook site (see signature) offers affiliates this:

    Code:
    http://level85guides.com/?sponsoredgamer=YOURCLICKBANKID
The reason why those "pretty" links are gaining in popularity is simply because, to the potential customer, it just looks a lot better than the standard clickbank links. The better it looks to the potential customer, the higher likelyhood they are to convert into $$.

Behind the scenes, what happens is the website automatically turns that link above into the standard clickbank link, however, the potential customer user only sees the pretty link and never the often obscene clickbank one.

I always take notice of any thread with "Clickbank" in its headline because that's the main place I've made money with so far. As far as cloaking links: If you ever had any doubts about the need to hide your links, check out Jason Fladlien's recent sales pitch for his link cloaker product. He underlines the point that link cloaking should happen from YOUR server.

Otherwise, Lee and others on this thread have already made the point well enough.

Other thoughts: Within WF, Dr. Ben Adkins came out with a link cloaker recently.

Mike Carraway recommends getting a separate domain for each link if possible and redirecting. I'm thinking about this but don't know if I look forward to keeping up with scores of domains.

I offer pretty links to my affiliates also but the reason I do so is not just cosmetical, it is so they can send people to optin pages or other pages on my site and still get credited for any sales that are made through Clickbank.

You can use a script like this:

The problem with using an in-house link cloaker is that you distance yourself from having a special, mutual 2 way beneficial relationship with the affiliated product.

It is more beneficial for the affiliated product if you utilize their "pretty" link, as that then is seen with a very high regard from Google's SEO, thus promoting the affiliated product's website.

Bottom line: Form a trustful and mutually beneficial relationship with the person you are affiliating. Help them out and there is a good chance they will help you out (as in, they will create custom material for you to promote their product, which earns YOU more money).

Myself personally, as I have products that others affiliate, love to offer those people who I form special relationships with custom material to enable them to better convert their users into paying customers. The more people who link using my pretty link, the better my site's ranking becomes in Google, and the more profound my efforts become to assist the people affiliating my product.

Too much "take take take" just populates the world with negative things. However, switching to a "give give give" mentality not only gives as much as what would be taken, but also brings everything into a more positive light.

I just wrote my own simple PHP script, took about 5 minutes, this way I can fully customize what "pretty" link I want, as well as give certain people that extra awesomeness depending on who they are.
