Who are the top 5 Internet Marketers we should listen too ?

Hi Team,

I just wanted to open this thread for the benefit of everybody that earns a living online.

It is important to surround your self with quality genuine people if you want to make the most out of all the hours you spend making a living online...

There is still far too much hype and overpriced, courses and info out there.

So I want to streamline my business even further now by only dealing with the top internet marketers who still care about their customers and always give top value in everything they do...

Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences

Have an awesome Day

Clayton J

I have come across three which have inspired me. I will put in order the ones who have

    inspired me the most:

    1. Chris Farrell. Because he is a down to earth guy who gets straight to the point. He teaches

how to understand and implement ways and means of making money online.

The way he does this is by teaching using videos of how he does it. Its just like looking over his shoulder. Easy to understand, step by step videos. He also offers free hosting. Chris would be my number one mentor.

    2. Willy Crawford would be the next in line as he has been in the IM business for many years. A lot longer than Chris Farrell. Willy teaches a lot of stuff but no where as good as Chris Farrell.

    3. Armin Morin would be the 3rd. Armin has his own unique style and excellent products.
Me personally I could not afford to follow Armin or Willie Crawford as I got into an information overload space. However do not underestimate what these men have achieved.

    4. Russell Brunson would be 4th in line. He also has an interesting style. I notice he talks quite fast, thats probably in relation to trying to offer his products in a systematic manner.
I found his products were too expensive. However he has lots to offer.

I totally agree with you Chris Farrell is my number 1 guy too. I love his honest and down to earth approach. He genuinely cares about his customers and this shows in what he does.

      • I don't think I could name 5 that I like because most of them come over as quite hypey and I hate that! I like watching/listening to people who know their stuff, but are interesting. The type of people that I would like to spend time having a drink or meal with, in other words if they make me go  or  I just click off the video or unsubscribe, it doesn't matter how good they are, I'm not interested. I want to see interesting personalities, not bland or hypey and especially not BS.

So I like people like Matt Carter, Frank Kern and Ed Dale.

Haven't seen many women mentioned, are there any women IMer's that I'm missing out on.

Chris Farrell has such a compelling story... he's a relative newbie himself that has managed to do some pretty big stuff in a short time and really seems to focus his efforts.

Yaro Starak is worth subscribing to for sure, easy to read.

Shoemoney, if for nothing more than the entertainment factor, but he's good at what he does.

Ok, you only get three from me. Why should we listen to anyone? Our individual reasons are so varied...

These threads come up all the time and ultimately lead to the usual fan
      club endorsements.

Clayton, do yourself a favor...listen to your gut.

Take everything you hear, regardless of what it is or who it's from, and
      analyze it.

Does it make sense or does it sound too good to be true?

Then...test out the theory. Regardless of what anybody says about
anything, each person is going to get different results depending on the
niche they're in and they're skill level.

I've listened to, supposedly, the brightest minds in this business...all with
different ideas on how to do things. But it wasn't until I thought for
myself and tried things out that I started seeing some level of success.

You're not going to suddenly wake up one day and become a master at
this game just because you listened to any one or a hundred and one
      "experts."

You're only going to become a master by doing.

Take this advice for what it's worth to you.

I learned it from a lot of painful experience.

        Steven Wagenheim,
Thank you for the honest observation.
I am almost three years into this source of income generation.
I have spent enough time purchasing and listening and reading, and sometimes regretting. I have been told that I am sometimes too caught in the education phase.
Tapping into my own gut feelings has been the most productive key to my forward motion.
I listen to everyone and then chew on it till I find what is right for my path.

        Cheers, N. Mc.

How 'bout listening to yourself. Try things so you can see how they work (or don't work) in your business.

There's nothing wrong with gathering information from knowledgeable people but at the end of the day its not their business its yours.

You're not them (and they're not you). What works for you might not work for them (and vice versa).

          Research, plan, execute, evaluate.

Repeat that process and you'll gain more actionable information (based on my experience) than you will by listening to a group of experts.

          Just my .02

These threads can help introduce people to marketers they weren't aware of, so they're good for that, but who is "best" will be different for everyone. What you need and what you are interested in are different from what I need and what I'm interested in.

Keep that in mind as you read. A lot of good names will surface, but because a marketer makes someone's list doesn't mean that person should be on your list.

Steve's advice, to listen to your gut, is good advice. Find someone who resonates with you for all the right reasons, then you'll be onto something.

Listening to your gut is useful... but it's not always accurate.

For example, a few years back, my gut told me that the
top Guru Launch guys were worth listening to and buying
      from.

I used to think that they had my best interests at heart. I
used to think that their high-priced products were worth it.
I used to think that they were worth my time and money.

I was wrong. My gut was wrong.

Going on gut feel is not always reliable.

Sophisticated marketers using advanced persuasion techniques
can overly infuence people to think and feel things that are not
      necessarily in their best interests.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

There are no guarantees in anything in life. Nothing is perfect. That's a given.

When you say your gut was wrong I have to take your word for it. It should be noted though, you did cite three instances of thinking ... and thinking is not gut instinct.

According to your own words, there is the possibility that your head overrode your gut.

        Hi

        ME!

        Yes I am serious...

        Really...

        No just kidding

Personally I think you should follow a Blog about the topic you want to learn more about, that is owned by somebody who doesn't try to sell you anything...

        I am serious this time...

If the blog owner doesn't try to sell, but only provides good relevant content then eventually you decide to follow that person and will sign up to his list and later on you decide to become a member of his or her membership or buy something...

"You actively decide to do so... not being sold"

        MAGNETIC ATTENTION

Those are the internet marketers you want to follow... they really care and truely want to build a relationship...

Most internet marketers mentioned above don't fit in that category (trying to sell you over and over from day one)

Dump those off your list right away - don't waste your time with them!

And in th end listen to your own voice, what is right for you, how you want to run your business (with your customers truly in mind I hope)

You should be on number one on the list of 5

        warm regards

I signed up to Chris Farrell's membership site a few months ago and I have learned so much just by watching his video courses. It's ranked the number 1 membership site on IM report card.

He is really good at explaining things so you rarley have any questions left to ask. I would suggest taking a look at some of his videos.

Really like this thread by the way, lots of good info on it.

Lets face it. Most GURUs out there dont have time for you. You only see them when they are promoting their next big get rich scheme. The names listed above are all people who have had a degree of success, but most of them are un-touchable. They surround them selves with help desk people from foreign countries that know just enough to answer a few questions. There are a few people out there who still care.

      Chris Farrell.

He gets an A+ from IMReportcard.com, and I have been on his list for over a year now and not once has he sent me a product offer. Just great content. He has spoken to me on face book, and is genuinely glad to help anyone. His membership site is second to none also.

      Lynn Terry

I have been on her email list for a long time too, and she always provides lots of help. You can ask her anyghing, and she will answer. She has a blog where she is constantly posting new free content. She has done affiliate marketing for a while now, and is willing to share her knowledge with you.

      Brian Johnson

I purchased his commission ritual course, and loved it. I have been on a few of his webinars, and he genuinely is willing to share his expertise with you.

      Derek Gehl

He has been doing internet marketing for years now. While I wouldn't stay on his email list, his course is one of the best out there. It is 400 pages of no fluff information on how to start and run an internet business. He is constantly updating his material, and the price tage for all of his content is a reasonable $197.

Most every other marketer that I have come across in the past 5 years is only interested in you if you are making them money. I have purchased the domain infoproductreports.com, and am planning to create a list of the good guys there. I have coppied the names above down. Thanks to everyone who posted. I will check them out. Please do yourself a favor. Before you buy someone's product, check them out in the warrior forum or at imreportcard.com. If you don't see them listed there don't buy their stuff.

      Hope this helps

I agree with Doug Wakefield: it depends a lot on what you are doing or what you want to do in future.

Additionnally I would say that it's quite hard to find some great marketers you can really rely on.

I like Michael Rasmussen, Ritoban C, Dan Brock and Sean Donahoe but I saw that ultimately they are promoting some stuff that doesn't make any sense to me (push button softwares) or other expensive products that create a false scarcity (like Commission Siphon). What I don't like is that they participate promoting these products while they have some exellent products on their own.

Each of the "gurus" have different strengths. To be useful, you need to get a match between what they are teaching and what you want to do ... assuming avoidance of the "next shiny object" is important.

For Affiliate Marketing, I like Lynn Terry, and Mike Filsaime. There are others who are great, but these two, especially Lynn, resonate with me.

For business building, I like Rich Schrefren. He puts things fairly bluntly without the fluff, and I really like that! Paul Lemberg is another one who is fairly blunt and right on.

For Article Marketing which I've pretty much just started to look into, I like Alexa Smith and Dr. Mani as I find their comments on the WF generally going directly to the heart of the matter. There are several other good people here on the WF as well, but they are a bit harder to find the "meat".

For copywriting, I like mostly dead people including Gary Halbert, Eugene Schwartz, David Ogilvy, and a few others. There are some good people to follow over in the copywriting forum who are still living . And a number of very good copywriters including Clayton Makepeace and Gary Bencivenga, both of whom have websites with lots of good information.

For general IM, I like Ed Dale, Frank Kern, and Dan Raine. I heard of Dan Raine through the The Challenge (formerly the Thirty day Challenge) and read somewhere about him doing a 15K Challenge. The 15K Challenge was where Dan started out with IIRC $150 and none of his contacts in a non-IM field. He had one month to make $15K or wear a pink thong in public (you can see the video on youtube.) BUT, he only missed it by $500 or so ... impressive. He documented the whole process, but the only place I've been able to find it is at archive.org and a lot of searching.

I'm missing quite a number of other people who are probably equally qualified, but the above are the ones who I've heard of and resonate with my personality.

Internet Marketing is a bit like 'Pass the parcel'.

My observation is that 90% of internet marketers teach internet marketers how to market to other internet marketers.

I think a cool list would be the top 5 experts who can teach you how to sell real stuff and not more internet marketing hype.

It reminds me that all the people who got rich during the goldrush were yelling "Gold!" and making money selling shovels and picks.

I am not surprised to see so many different opinions on this topic.

I have spent too much money following a lot of these people.

It wasn't until I found a style and approach that I found comfortable and made sense to me. (I think that is the secret)

So, I lost money and spun my wheels until I followed these two:
        1. Brian B. Johnson
        2. Sean Donahoe

Frank Kern is cool but his methods are way too advanced to where my business is at the present. You need to learn how to ride the bike before you buy the Harley.

I've never understood this philosophy. One of the oldest, time-tested success principles is to shorten the learning curve by emulating and learning from others. You can learn a lot from others, take that knowledge, and implement it into something that is unique to you. On any planet I don't see how that translates to being "sheep".

I wouldn't be where I'm at today if I didn't have the coaches and mentors that I had. Not by a long shot.
