using descriptions of items as the title of articles.

I have been looking at ways of selling products online.

I was given a system using Snipsly, Xomba and some other article sites to promote products.

The advice to get onto page one of Google was to use the full description of the product as the title of the article and also for header 1.

I see a big problem here.

This was one example given.

Soleus PA1-14R-32 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner Review

Well, the article was published some months ago, and is still on page one of Google today.

That sounds great, but if you put this title into Google Keyword Tool, you find that it gets absolutely no monthly Global searches at all.

So, if no one is searching for that term, what is the point of getting on page one of Google if you are never ever going to make any sales.

It would seem that if you use any less obscure phrases for your title, such as maybe 'Portable Air Conditioner' you will see that there are now thousands of monthly Global searches, but you will never have a hope of getting on to page one of Google as it is far too competitive.

I would welcome your views on this.

There will likely be a lot less views for those product models and names however the people searching those terms are much more likely to buy than someone who is typing in a more general term such as 'Portable Air Conditioner'. If they are typing in the model number then it usually means they have already done most of their research - these are the type of people you want landing on your site.

You will find some product names have less searches and/or competition than others. This is where your keyword research comes into play.

I appreciate what you say, but if the exact product descriptions are getting not one search from anywhere in the World in a month, you are never going to sell anything.

The title of the article is not the only factor that plays a role in search engines rankings!

The content of your article is also important. Snippets from your article will show under the title in google search results, and what you are writing may grab the attention of potential customers!

If absolutely no one is searching for a product then it must be a dud product.
