Built "LIKE TO UNLOCK", need your critique! Any Facebook guru's out there?

I've put together this simple fanpage with an idea I have in mind. I've been working on my own "Like To Unlock" type client generating tabs and wanted to get a critique or two...

Mostly looking at graphics and how the "like to unlock" seems to look to everyone...

As always warriors... your help is much appreciated.

You need to tell what I will get if I click like. If I do not know what I will get why should I click?

Thanks .... that is helpful... I'm been working on the pages (design) and just wanted to get additional holes to fill since I'm new to facebook.

      Thank you

    Hi Mitch

I'm a bit unclear - what are we critiquing?
    Your idea? Your page?

If it's the idea I need a bit more info

If it's the page... I'd have to say 'what's in it for me?' Why would I want to click like? (and I'm DEF in your target market but I can't see a reason to join)

    Cheers

      Hi Mitch (again!)

Part of the problem is that I landed on the 'Tell Friends' tab - it's only now that I have discovered the 'Free ebook' tab and seen the 'Click like to unlock' graphic.

Same thing - what's in it for me?

Love the graphics though! Did you do those yourself?
      Very nice

Yes, graphics I did... mostly trying to perfect the "like to unlock" aspect to these pages... which I now have a great template ready to do more pages if any local businesses want them.

        Thanks again...

Impressive, do you do work for others or sell the template?

          I am 100% graphically challenged!

      Libby:

Thanks for your reply. Really just looking at what I'm missing with this. Created the pages, as a baseline and wanted to know what I'm. Mainly for the design for now, but as a whole I appreciate your candor in "what's in it for me". I know John Durham has talked about that and it makes sense...

      Thank you

        Hi Mitch

Hope it didn't come across as harsh 'What's in it for me?' is an expression rather than what I would actually say myself

I LOVE Facebook for marketing (such an amazing channel) so it's always really interesting to see what others are doing.

You definitely need to provide some instructions to the user. You should create a landing page the instructs them to click the like button. The profile banner is pretty impressive.

Excellent... Im doing something right!!! I'm working on the landing page right now.

Not sure if the landing page should be my "Welcome" page or not though? Seems alot of people label the landing page "Welcome".

Maybe something related to my fanpage would be the keyword to use.

      Thanks... appreciate your comments...

You can use any tab as the default "landing page" for non-fans but most use the "welcome" tab. This is where you are trying to get the visitor to "Like" your page and where the "enticement" goes.

That's a nice WELCOME page... simple too! It only outlines what your getting for the like... nothing elaborate or complicated, just the defining reason why the person should like the page.

The "welcome" page is the main reason why the person wants to like it? I get it! Seems some old school marketing is involved?

Mitch once they "like" the page fro the Welcome another page opens underneath and that's where they get their FREE gift. We also have a newsletter module where they can sign up and stay in touch.

All of our tabs are essentially a list of services offered to golfers with information. We tried to build it like a website and each tab is a page in itself.

              Chuck,

When I first landed on your tab I didn't even see the message down the bottom of your image. I would suggest moving the call to action to the top of your image as I am certain others would miss it just like I did. The only reason I scrolled down is because we were talking about it on this thread. To other visitors I would imagine it just looks like a nice welcome photo.

I have just pm'ed you a quick variation of your image that I feel is layed out a little better. You are welcome to use it if you like.

Ya I was wondering about the call to action at the bottom as well... nice fanpage nonetheless...

As everyone has stated I would like to know what I am getting by clicking the "Like" page. What other steps do you plan on taking to elaborate this page?

    Good start though!

    Mitch,

I like the design but agree with others - what am I getting? Here is a template I put together for someone's fan page a while ago. I think they must have given up on it but it still shows you a different way of doing things. See what I did with the download button?

I think your graphics look great and the "like to unlock" looks very sharp as well.

I looked at all of your tabs.

I was at first confused because I landed on the "tell friends" tab and that put me off a bit. But when I looked at the other tabs I felt they were well nice to look at.

For me personally, I would need more info about why I would care about what is on the video. I have been on facebook for many years as a user and I have grown stingy with my "likes". I don't just give them out to see any old video I need a compelling reason first.

Wow that's some great feedback. The video on there isn't the one that I will be using. It's fill for what I have plans for.

You should have landed on the WELCOME page though? I have already set the page to land on WELCOME.... hmmmm... why?

I've just completed the look of the WELCOME page which I think looks pretty good...

I'm beginning to understand that I need to have acompelling "call to action" in order to get a "like" so I will be working on those key details.

Really my whole reason for this post was to get feedback for the design part (images, like to unlock etc) but any feedback is great.

      Thank you very much...

Hey Guys... what about the new changes with IFRAMES taking over FBML. I'm stumped now that I'm making these changes and all of a sudden facebook changes???

Seems that IFRAMES will allow for better integration of HTML, CSS and JAVASCRIPT but it needs to be setup as an app with a FACEBOOK CANVAS PAGE. I wonder how long it will take for non-hardcore programmers to create APPS to make things easy for these people.
