Why Should I Get A QR Code For My Deli?

Hey Warriors,

I'm an internet marketer (obviously) but my "day job" if you will is that I own a deli here in Orlando.

I've been reading about these QR codes for a while and have yet to have an "ah ha I need this" moment for it.

Why the hell do I want to add one if someone can just use their high end phone to visit my website or check me out on social media sites?

While the general idea is pretty cool...and I'm not against it...I don't see why people would go out of their way to get my info if I have a QR code or not?

I'm interested in the SMS messaging thing as well which seems to be a possibility but not sure about the "implementation" of this (we all know that's the only thing that freaking matters).

Cheers,

Brad

You have a special QR code sitting up on your deli counter that says scan me for 15% off your order or something like that. When they scan the code it brings up an sms they can send to your sms number which then replies to them with a coupon code.

They are now on your sms list and you can use that list to your advantage on days that are slow. If you know business is always very quiet on a Monday then send out a special promo to your list enticing them into the store on that day.

You could also do the above but instead of using sms you could send them to an optin form on your website and collect their email address instead. I think though for a deli where majority of your shoppers is probably busy mothers then sms would be a much better way to be contact them.

Dude that's a freaking good idea...now that makes sense.

What services do this SMS thing that you are talking about? At least ones that you recommend?

I literally know NOTHING about this but I've seen so much on it lately that I must at least explore it.

I'd love to send the text thing...I've created a coupon club with 60 members solely promoted on our website and facebook pages.

      Thanks for all the help!

      Cheers,

      Brad

    Hi Brad,

As far as QR... What is it all about?
I've missed this and I guess it's because my cell phone is at the bottom of the Ohio River...lol

    Haven't needed/wanted one since then.

Seriously, If there are other threads here telling what QR is, I'll look for them and check it out
but, you started this thread and I thought I should ask you since you seem to know.

    Thanks,
    Have a Great Day!

      Michael,

They're that little funny looking bar code thing with a box in 3 corners. I know about that much lol.

Apparently they['re all the rage and will be huge in 2011 but I have yet to see how they translate yet into money.

WillR above seems to know and I looked at another thread...but I don't see sometimes how they translate to cash (how does a Vcard actually drive customers in my door ya know).

Apparently this SMS list though is a good idea...just wanting to find the good services to check out for that.

      Cheers,

      Brad

Guys, here is a good thread which will give you some food for thought...

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-qr-codes.html

As far as the sms services go, I have not actually used any myself so would not be inclined to recommend any to you. You might want to try asking those in the other thread.
