Byethost free hosting REALLy slow. Time to upgrade?

I don't update often but I just really realized it really sucks.

It seems to fluctuate, but I just realized that if people wanna visit my site then they are likely to click away before it loads alot of the time.

It takes like 30seconds-1minute to load pages which of course is unacceptable.

What paid ones do people recommend?

I'm not making any money yet and am gonna have to pay for an autoresponder but it seems like it is going to be worth committing to these overheads cos the free stuff is just junk in terms of reliability and will leak sales all over the place.

Have you ever thought that it might not be the hosting that makes your loading time slow, but what you're showing on your site? I don't know what you have on your pages, but if you are using a lot of images and things like that, it'll take time to load, whatever hosting you use.

No it's only text I have.

Also that wouldn't account for it being fast sometimes and slow others.

Well, having a fast loading time usually and slow occassionaly, I have with paid hosting too. So I'm not sure if you would be able to fix that problem completely with going the paid route. It can be a number of things that cause that problem.

I use Byethost at the moment only as backup for when my paid hosting is down, but I haven't had complaints about them being extremely slow whenever I had to activate them. But again, I don't use them that often.

    I use HostGator and JustHost.

This is my experience on both of them:

If you would run one blog, i would go for JustHost, cheaper than HostGator.

But if you plan to run many blogs, then HostGator is away better.

    Good luck.

most free hosting plans are like that, I think they do it purposely because they know that after that you are going to upgrade to premium.

Of course it's unacceptable, but what makes you so sure it's the hosting that's causing it? (I ask because I know successful professional marketers who've hosted there - free - for 4/5 years without ever encountering that issue).

Byethost have exactly the opposite reputation: they sell upgrades by showing how good, fast, efficient and reliable even their free service is, so that when people want more space for more sites, they won't ever think of changing hosts. It's a business model they've used successfully for a long time.

Ye I don't know for sure, but it was a guess since my internet was running fine on everything else. It seems to have unclogged now...but dunno why it does it.

Any other reasons which may cause it?

I use premium hosting through Byet and I absolutely love it. I also have a free account and its far from slow, but will go down occasionally. I would encourage you to get their unlimited everything for like $6.99 a month! It's nice.
