Domain name and niche - i have been doing it all wrong

Today i think i have finally just waked up from the dream world of taking on niches with over 10,000,000 searches and i have came shooting back down to earth.

I have found 4-5 niches i am going to cover ranging from 4,000-18,000 monthly searches. i allready know about keyword optimization, i can get traffic and create backlinks however i don't have a clue about domains.

The niche i want to start only has .net .info and .biz does it matter which one i choose bearing in mind i want to get all my traffic from google eventually?

    Whenever I can't find a .com domain for my niche,
    I just add something to it.
    I see by your sig file you're into online games, weight loss, etc.

    If OnlineGames were what you wanted, and it was only available in .net, .info, .biz.,
    just add a letter or one word to it.

    Example: eonlinegamesDOTcom, ionlinegamesDOTcom, ultraonlinegames,
    onlinegamesnow, onlinegameshere, youronlinegamesDOTcom

    Be creative and I'm sure you'll find a DOTcom available that will suit your needs.

      Thanks a lot sounds great i am actually doing a few sites on specific searches to see if i can make a little return on them, thanks for your advice found one allready

      - One of my sites is going to be purely for adsense so i will give .info a go thanks

    If you really sell something on your site, then it's no sense to name it with .info. But if the site is the gate to adsense or to a landing page or whatever - then .info works well.

    forget .info and .biz and settle for .net only. it's for SEO purposes.

    I've had much better luck ranking .net websites as compared to .info and .biz ones.

      in my chase I use .info on my site that were all about game specs and game quest guides.

      And for .net I used it on some sites of mine were it was all about updates and other stuffs that are on the hot seat.

    great tip about the 'x', what are other stop words? does that also mean that if there is an x in your domain name naturally....google can't detect it? ex: 'extragamesDOTcom'?

    I agree with Sandy, find a name that you can get with the dot com extension. I've been a dot com snob for years, and some of my friends laugh at me for it, but I don't think I'm alone in that regard.

    The only successful exception I've ever made to that rule was when the dot MU extension came out and it was hyped as a music extension. I bought Aerosmith dot MU and was getting millions of hits to it - problem was Aerosmith fans never BOUGHT anything!

    It doesn't matter for SEO purposes, at all.

    Domain extensions don't affect SEO.

    It may matter for other reasons (such as what customers think it looks like, whether you can easily sell it later, whehter you might lose type-in traffic to the owner of the .com, and so on), but for SEO, your ranking has no connection at all with whether you use .com/.info etc. etc. There are hundreds of threads here explaining and proving this in detail, and Google's Matt Cutts has stated it very publicly, very repeatedly and invited people to quote him on it. The issue is absolutely black and white.
