Standing out from the crowd

So, I have been a lurker here for ages. There is some wonderful advice that is always given, so I am hoping to find out if my idea has merit....(I have been know to jump off the deep end)

In order to distinguish myself, start a list, and perhaps make a few sales, I had an idea to give 10% of our proceeds to charity. I am thinking they have to be nationwide, better known charities. Each month I change the charity to one that reflects something in that month. (Ideas welcome here too, as I only have about 5.)

There are a multitude of reasons why I like this idea, but do you think the idea would appeal to current shoppers?

Mich, the best way to stand out is to offer quality products. There is so much crap out there that by offering quality will make you stand out.

Thomas, I think we do have a quality product that we resale. 2.5 years and grossing 500-1000 a month with a few well targeted Google ads. I want to increase it!

Actually, since writing this, a whole marketing plan is starting to come together revolving around this concept. I am so very excited since this is the first time I feel like I am looking at how the pieces interrelate to make up a whole marketing campaign.

I do want to grow up and be like the big warriors.

What Thomas said: "the best way to stand out is to offer quality products".

The copywriter in me puts it this way: it's the offering. Everything else is trivial. Make a good offer and sell.

The key is to get your offering in front of as many of your target customers as possible.

Re your charity idea, sponsorships always work.

    Cheers

      Hi Angela,

Copy is definately needed to sell that product. It doesn't matter if the product is good or bad at that point. I was talking about standing out from a crowd. You build a reputation whether you like it or not. That reputation can be good based on what you sell or bad.

I have a loyal list of people that will buy my products without much of a sales page. In fact, you see some of the product launches and how they build up moment before you even see the sales page. It sort of negates the whole sales page because people are ready to buy before they even get there.

Offering a percentage to charity and stuff like that won't help, IMO, unless the people get what they want when they buy. If you give them what they want then you don't have to come up with ways to make yourself different like in the op.
