    RSS Real Siimple Syndication

RSS is a way of making it simple for other people to republish your content. Most blog software like wordpress have RSS built in.

Someone with an RSS reader just clicks a link and they can set up an RSS reader to automatically get your content every time you publish something new.

If you do set up an RSS feed, you can publish it to the major RSS directories with the links in this resources

I love the RSS feature...it's a great way to automatically distribute your fresh new content to internet users.... next to email marketing, it's a another great tool for marketing and broadcasting your updates.

It syndicates content automatically and they benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates because it checks regularly for new work, downloads and any updates that it finds.

An RSS feed goes along with your site. Some sites get them automatically. Like if you have a blog kind of site made with wordpress or a blogger site you get one without doing anything about it. Kind of like something extra.

There are ways to get one if your site doesn't give you one automatically. They are not very hard, mostly you have to input your site's pages into a website that makes an RSS feed for you or you get some software that does it for you.

Sometimes when you look at websites on the internet and they have .html or .htm at the end. And those letters are what makes it so you can put new words on the webpage with something like NVU or Dreamweaver.

An RSS feed has .xml after it (sometimes you can see it and sometimes not) and those letters are what makes it show up in a special program like an RSS reader or your web browser.

It is for you to get another way to put your content out and around on the internet. It is actually pretty cool, especially the part when you get it for free as a kind of an extra.

I hope that helps a bit.

I use an RSS feed to subscribe to the blogs I read, so I have all the entries in one consolidated place and I don't have to trek all over the web to read stuff. I send it all to by Google page.

      Life is much simpler now...

        What is an RSS Feed?

RSS stands for real simple syndication. It's the address on your blog that can plug into RSS aggregators and push your content out to different blog search engines, news sites or any website that accepts it.

It usually looks like this: If your site is http://www.mysite.com, then your RSS feed should look like http://www.mysite.com/feed.

Some blog platforms use a .xml extension on the feed.

What Is the Purpose of It?

One of the best benefits of using an RSS feed is if your blog is plugged into some kind of traffic pulling Web 2.0 site that gets a lot of readers, like Squidoo, you don't have to manually submit your posts each time you create a new one. The RSS feed updates automatically.

For example, let's say you created a Squidoo Lens about a weight loss product that was getting lots and lots of traffic. You also have a blog with lots of related weight loss articles. You want to draw some of that Squidoo traffic to your blog.

So you place an RSS module on your Squidoo Lens and plug your blog's RSS feed into the module. Every time you create a new article on your blog, it automatically updates over at Squidoo.

Now, imagine if you had a news blog and sent your RSS feed to a heavily trafficked news site.

        How Do I Get One?

That orange square button with the white radio stripes you see on your blog, press it.
