If you Want to Keep Your Subscribers Don't Do This

A well-known marketer just lost me as a subscriber today because of his subject line in an email he sent to his list which was :

"Re: Notification of Payment Received"

Now, in all fairness, the subject line got me to open the email, which was his intention, however, no Internet marketer should ever under-estimate the intelligence of his subscribers.

That subject line makes me believe he is desperate for sales, he's not very creative or as smart as he thinks he is. These types of tactics disgust me, and I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but I'll never buy from marketers who use these kinds of tactics ever again.

I feel equally disgusted with marketers who feel they can email you several times a day once you're on their list with sales pitch after sales pitch.

There are a couple of marketers from this forum who I have a huge amount of respect for because they know how to keep their subscribers. They produce real newsletters with quality content, and then they add a pitch or two after the qaulity content.

I see nothing wrong with that, in fact, I believe that's how it should be done. Plus they craft interesting subject lines that are not simply lame tricks to get you to open the email.

Because these marketers provide quality content consistently, if they do send out an email once in a while that is just an announcement of their new product offerings, I am more likely to buy. It's as simple as that.

So please, Warriors, think twice before you send out that email. Are you insulting your reader's intelligence with your content? Or are you giving them something of quality? Are you more concerned with just money or do you really care about your subscribers? Keep your subscribers happy and don't bull**** them. You'll keep them and they will buy from you, eventually, once you've got them to trust you.

Yeah, this is really low and I get these spam messages all the time. Just report them for spam.

no, I wouldn't report them for spam because I agreed to be on their list. What I do is simply unsubscribe from their list and never ever buy from them or read their bs again

What she said! These are no better than the typical phishing emails that come through.

That's what I was thinking - it brings the "Fedex shipment information" and "Important Tax Documentation" spam emails to mind.
