Well you can't really compare the two to be honest...

Dreamweaver is an HTML editing tool while Wordpress is a content management system, they don't really fall under the same category, in fact you could use both in unison.

As for static HTML pages vs Wordpress - I personally go with WP for all my web development these days. It's a powerful CMS that can be used to build pretty much any type of website you want.

That said if you're proficient with HTML and not PHP/CSS, doing static pages with with Dreamweaver may be the better option. It really comes down to what works best for YOU.

It depends. Are you good with html code and are you really detailed? If you like to tweak things just right then Dreamweaver is good for you.

If you are trying to edit a blog rather quickly without entering code. Then you should definitely use Wordpress. Wordpress is a personal favorite although I have been taught to use Dreamweaver. Too lazy to learn code

One "Dreamweaver" is meant to help you build a website, with lots of functionality. It allows you lots of freedom to design and structure the site the way you want it to look.

While "Wordpress" is a CMS, content management system, that restricts lots of things in regards to structure and design. Mainly because its a pre-designed, prepackaged system. Unless you actually are a wordpress coder and designer at the same time, then you can if knowledgeable enough, design some great looking sites.

The reason so many use WP is the supposedly simplicty of it... And the illusion that google likes wordpress better than a html site. Which in my opinion is not really the case.

Google likes sites that have good order, structure, content, and seo optimization, which can be done with a static html site if they know how to actually design and code a website.

id use youtube for both those products and see if its what you are looking for

Of course they both work.

Each is better for the job they are meant to do.

Each is a tool, and just a word of advice...don't fall in love with the tool. The tool is just something to help you reach the end goal.

I speak from personal experience. You can spend days, if not more just researching this question...

"Which should I use? Dreamweaver or wordpress? Which is better? Which will bring me more traffic, which will make my website look better? Which will work to bring more money? etc..."

And before you know it, a week has gone by and you are still weighing your options and haven't done anything.

If you want a blog or more interactive site, use wordpress.
If you know dreamweaver and want a less blog-like site, use dreamweaver
If you are first going to learn one before you use it, use wordpress

Make the decision within 5-10 mins and go from there.

I did some HTML 2 years back. So I know most of the HTML codes. Enough to design a website entirely the way I would want it to be. But since I'm a total newbie at IM I think the best way for me would be using wordpress. I already spent like a week in research on here. Then again I knew totally NOTHING about IM. I think I got a pretty good grasp now so I'm gonna do some research on a good niche (wich is pretty hard to think of the first time) and then start a Wordpress site since I want a site to be online asap and learn what work and what doesnt. Trail and error like mentioned many times on here.

Different tools for different jobs.

You're talking about a hammer and a screwdriver...

Sure you could use a screwdriver to bang in a nail, but why would you?

Figure out what you want to do, then figure out what tools to need to do it.

That is like saying what is better, a hammer or a screwdriver.

They are both great. It just depends on what tool you need.

Wordpress is great for creating blogs and basic static sites.

Joomla is great for creating powerful static sites.

Dreamweaver is great for creating web pages in HTML, PHP or any of the other coding styles.

A marketer probably wouldn't use Dream weaver as it's not the best tool for the job. WordPress is easy to learn, easy to install, and there are a ton of plugins that make it nearly infinitely extensible.

Dreamweaver is an HTML editing tool and WP is a CMS they both are in different category you can use both if you want to. If you don't like to do coding then go for WP.

I agree... very different tools... maybe the actual question is HTML v Wordpress?

In that debate I have found time and time again that sites that aren't updated often stay in the rankings better in HTML and ones that have constant updates so more 'blog' like stay up better with wordpress...

I actually converted a bunch of my Wordpress sites to HTML the other week and they already show signs of improving rankings... go figure.

If you're planning to have any more than ten pages you'll find it a lot easier to manage with WordPress.

As others have said, you're making an apples to oranges comparison. One is platform to build a blog. The other is the premium web designers tool. ..and one is free (wp) while the other costs hundreds of dollars.

As others have pointed out they are two different things. With that said, I don't use wordpress for anything. Not that it is a bad product or anything, but it's a proprietary tool that if you use it enough you may become dependent on using it. I use a text editor (jedit) and firebug (the firefox add on) for just about everything.

Assuming you're looking to make money and not get crazy with graphic design and scripting, Wordpress is definitely the better of the 2.

The thing I like best about wordpress (other than that its 100% free) is the ease of use and ability to add as many plugins as you want without the need to know programming.

In addition, Wordpress is naturally SEO friendly which means you can get your content ranked with very little effort.

They do not fall in the category to be compared of. You are like asking what water tastes. Wordpress is a CMS while dreamweaver is an HTML editing tool. Both works for what they are intended.

Wordpress by a long stretch. They both can make websites, but Wordpress is much faster, much easier, and overall efficient.

I used Dreamweaver myself for about 7 years, never became a pro at using it, and still today I don't know how to do at least 75% of what is capable of. Wordpress it took me about 2 weeks to learn almost ALL of what it does.

Second I moved over to Wordpress I realized I was an idiot, and that I'd never use Dreamweaver again. That is unless I need a really original custom build site.. which is very rare.

UNLESS you want to learn all the fun exciting things about how to program the longest, most boring code you can, go with WORDPRESS! Dreamweaver just robs the fun out of building websites.

If you want to focus on the content and marketing products then Wordpress.

If you want to develop wordpress themes or create your own Content Management System or just have a basic one page site with no extra files or clutter then Dreamweaver would be a good choice if you are into the techy side of thngs.

I used both - Dreamweaver is for more static websites, but Wordpress is the better solution for any kind of websites.

I use both. Most of my websites are now on the WordPress
platform, with custom designed themes. When I need a
very precise page layout I do it in DreamWeaver, and then
paste it into WordPress.

Dreamweaver for creating small 5-10 page static sites that won't change much.

WordPress for everything else. Correction...WordPress + WordFence plugin because security attacks on WP sites are getting ridiculous.

This two different tools works differently for you. WordPress has almost everything ready for you but if you gonna use Dreamweaver, you will have to made everything your self.

The answer will depend on how familiar you are with those platforms. I am not familiar on how to use Dreamweaver and on the other hand I think it is easy to understand how Wordpress works.

If finance and time is a deciding factor I would go with Word Press. It is included in many hosting solutions and the learning curve very small to get a site up and running. Google likes any site that is regularly updated with relevant information. Since Word Press is the No. 1 blogging solution, it does encourage frequent updates, hence google apparently liking Word Press.

Dreamweaver on the other hand costs a significant amount to buy and is extremely powerful. The learning curve is proportionately steeper. However, if you love web design and slick looking sites, then Dreamweaver is one of the best tools you can get.

My advice would be to keep things as simple as possible until you have to upgrade.

Dreamweaver all the way if you're a talented web developer.

Else use wordpress

If you can read code like a book then go with Dreamweaver. If you're looking for an easier way to setup and edit a less complicated website then you should use Wordpress and all the plugins that community has to offer.

mmm not sure if they are comparable. But if you have a knowledge of HTML, and you need to build a website, using worpdress can be faster to build one. It's even better when it comes to adding great functionalities to your site, like contact forms or other stuff by just activating plugins.

With dreamweaver you need to CODE to add special stuff... and you need to be more experienced on adding code in the markup.

just to throw a spanner into the conversation, what about joomla, its not quite as good as dream weaver but gives more options than wordpress.
