A dumb question. I would like to use wordpress for my blogs do I have to buy a domain name to do this.

    You can have your blog hosted at wordpress without a domain or you can get your own domain and host the blog yourself(recommended).

    You do if you want to host it yourself.

    You can use Wordpress.com blogs where they host it for you but they can be a bit draconion in enforcing their rules and people do find their sites being deleted.

    Ultimately the best option is hosting it on your own domain - that way you are building an asset you own.

    If you want to make money from your blogs, then yes, you need to buy a domain and host your wordpress blog yourself, 'cause the wordpress.com version doesn't allow any monetization.

      I agree with you. Plus it helps you build SEO.

      Include your keywords the the url.
