The correct, and quick, answer to your question actually takes explaining two statements.

You have the Mission statement and the Vision statement.

The Vision statement tells where an organization wants to be in the future and the Mission statement tells how it intends to get their.

The Mission statement is basically an internal document and normally is intended for leadership, management, and stockholders.

You can look at it as if the Mission statement is your present and the Vision statement is your future.

If I'm a potential investor in your company, meaning I'm looking to buy stock or maybe loan you money, I want to see that you ALREADY have a plan in place and know where your headed and how you intend to get their. Because if you don't know then that tells me right away you're not an experienced business person and probably aren't qualified for a management position.

Doesn't mean I won't still invest, just means I won't invest if your the president, or owner, of the business.

Ok, I probably rambled on to far here, but I like to answer as informatively as I can. And yes I do belong to and Angel investment group here in Las Vegas so I understand a little about Start-Ups.

Having a clear mission statement and vision with measureable goals for your company is especially essential if you have employees. This will form an alignment of behavior and independent judgement to meet those goals.

    I'm not convinced you do.

Another answer might be "it depends."

I see you joined the Warrior Forum in Sept. of last year. If that is when you began your Internet Marketing career, maybe your first objective should be to get to $100 / month profit.

The idea that someone who is just starting needs a Mission Statement, a Vision Statement, a Business Plan that a bank would approve of, form an LLC or Corporation, etc. is less than smart.

    I just thinking out loud.

I always thought it was just corporate-speak, trendy for a while in the 1980s; and mostly serving to further justify the ludicrously inflated fees charged by non creative and cynical management consultants to their largely clueless, bandwagon-riding clients.

      Or something.
