Not Many Responsibilities? Check this out...

I've been hearing a lot about the economic situation in the states from my friends and family. Money is tight...

...but as I write this, sitting in my new high-rise apartment in Medellin, Colombia, the states couldn't be further away.

The dollar is strong compared to most South American currencies right now, but this is about what I pay to live:

Rent - 2 bedroom, fully furnished, high-speed internet, posh district (Poblado), $600 split two ways.
Food - Soup, salad, rice, beans, fried plantain (the greatest food known to man), chicken - $3
Entertainment - beers in most bars - $1
Spanish One-on-one Classes - $7 per hour

I'm struggling to spend to $1000 a month and I'm living like a king.

So, for those of you who don't have a lot of responsibility:

Travel / work / be happy!

Yeah The 4 Hr Work Week was kind of the spark that lit the flame so to speak. I've always loved to travel but I never really considered working and traveling as a lifestyle.

I've got a few photos up on my flickr, which you can get to from my blog below. I'll get some more up later.

Sweet man. What a dream, and i mean that in an "that's inspiring way" not a "oh my god, I'm so damn jealous" way. Ok, maybe a little bit of the latter.

I also really liked your Signature. Clever. I'm clicking.

    Looks pretty awesome man.

How does it work as far as citizenship goes? I don't know where you are from, but say an American moves there... are they still an American citizen thus having to pay American taxes?

I have US citizenship. You can stay in most countries for 90 days then you need to leave for at least 72 hrs before returning.

And I still pay US taxes.
