I'm going to upload a wordpress site that is prebuilt with dummy content. It may take me a few days to complete so how would I keep the search engines from indexing the dummy pages and content until I finish everything?

Thanks

Under, I believe the Privacy settings, allow you can exclude search engines, I don't know specifically, but this may just stop pinging new posts. To be source you wound want to insert a robots.txt file in the blog root directory instructing them to not spider.

This robots.txt should exclude all spiders

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /

Create it in notepad, ftp it to your root directory, or ue your hosts control pane browser basedl file manager.

Yes you want to go to Settings -> Privacy and make sure "I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors" is selected and click the Save Changes button. Once you have finished editing your site, change it to "I would like my site to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archivers".
