Email Marketing Software?

Hi guys,

Me and my friend are starting to do som email marketing. We got our own list but when don't have any software that we can use to send out mails for our list. That means we don't need to build a list with a optin form on our webpage. We already got the emails we need! We just need the opportunity to place a unsubscribe form on our webpage.

So, what email marketing software do you recommend us to use? We accept both self-hosted and hosted plans.

I'm not a big fan of hosted autoresponder solutions, but if you want one, you can try Aweber or GetResponse, as they're the big players in the autoresponder market.

For a self-hosted solution, I like AutoResponse Plus. Since you already have a list, you'll need to be able to import it into whatever system you're using, and AutoResponse Plus allows you to import your own lists. Last time I checked, you can't do that with Aweber or GetResponse. If you wanted to use Aweber with your existing list, you would have to ask your subscribers to opt-in to your "new" list.

There are a lot of recent threads about this so do a search for "autoresponders"

There can be a lot of problems with self hosted scripts particularly when you reach a good list size and your host restricts you to sending 300/400 out emails per hour!!

Also, once you have a good list and want to changed over to a professional organization (Aweber,GetResponse etc) there's an excellent chance members of your list will not confirm the changeover and you lost them after all the work in getting them in the first place.

    Recent thread on WF here

I got the $1 aweber trial recently. As I said in the above thread, very glad I did so. Very functional but easy to use, reliable and user friendly.

Probably 90% of marketers will tell you to use Aweber and yet people are still asking for alternatives. Why is that?

Hmmm. I use Aweber, and I recommend them, but I'm not at all convinced it's even 60%, just in this forum. And 90% ... everywhere?

      Nah.

The use of the word "probably" indemnifies me from any bashing of the statement. That is in the rules of humanity, page 6688.

I would suggest you go the Self Hosted script way. I do have a great script, I'll give it to you free, but your host needs to support PHP and have 1 MySQL database available, and you're all set.

It has a broadcast feature so you will be able to e-mail your subscribed e-mails. As for the e-mails you already have, you can import them in the database.

After my study on the topic I found a good reliable solution for us. We got a list of 30.000 people. So we have ordered a self hosted server and I have installed a SMTP server on that server and then we are using Interspire Email Marketer as software for sending and schuduling our mails

    Thanks for all replies.
