End your inactive Odesk contracts! (or get ripped off)

I had a data entry person who did pretty good work a few months ago on Odesk. Instead of ending their contract, I opted to leave them on board for when I needed them again.

I have a very steady team now, so I don't always look at the weekly time sheets (and some aren't even on odesk). Last week this person was billing me and I had assigned nothing in months! (only lost about $18, but still!)

So just a warning to make sure you clear out old contracts.

You probably can if you want to. Just fill a complain and odesk will investigate the matter and get you your money back. It is even very easy if the billing came in from last week. Just dispute it during the review period and you will definitely get your money back since it is still in the pockets of odesk not the contractor.

It's not worth my time to my time to go after someone in the Philippines that makes $2/hour. That's my initial thought anyway, although reporting it could prevent this person from doing this to someone else. I just don't want to make in more of a hassle, as I have more urgent things to do.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Eek, it's more like $82 dollars with 40 hours since January. The jist of it is I have a local directory (ex. New York), and they are adding a bunch of spammy links that have nothing to do with New York whatsoever.

I have made a trouble ticket.

Another problem I had this month was I hired a few article writers. There was no response the first week, and then some started writing unexpectedly a couple of weeks later. So I would advise you close contracts if they don't start working immediately.

  • I prefer to do fixed term contracts. That way I feel like I am always in control of the cost. I just assign them a task for the week with a price, and pay them once it's complete.

I use odesk alot. I think what people do not really tell you is the fact that once you find a good outsourcer, stick to them.

it does take alot of time to find one, and i know this is true, but once you do find that little gem...keep him in your back pocket. It is like having an atm machine you can go to and pull out money anytime. Simple as that.

You can always file for a complaint if things do not work out as they should. They might issue you a refund if you do so.
