Hi all,

Im about to start building my first website, and have a quickie for you guys, ive found myself a keyword in a particular niche which has 2400 global monthly searches, and only has 1230 results return on google, ive got a couple of products ready to promote on the site when i get going, does this sound like the sort of figures im looking for with my keyword research? And do you think this niche would be worth pursuing?

My first time at it, and im kind of winging it, to see if i can get by myself without having to purchase expensive products showing me how it should be done. If this fails im looking at google sniper, but thats probably another topic

any pointers would be great

regards

dave

WOW 2400 searches per month! That's like, 80 searches per day... That's awesome man!:p

But on a more serious note, you could dominate the niche pretty quickly, but the potential just isn't that great...

all im looking for is $50-100 per week from this, then i will look at expanding from there or building further sites. Do we think this will be achievable, given that the commission from each product is $25

Let's say you can get about 100 people to really look at your page of those 2800 google searches. Of those 100 people, let's say you convert at 5%. That's $125 per month.

Those are pretty good numbers and conversions, it all depends on the niche and how much incentive/urgency people will have for buying the product.

Diet is a very broad niche. There are tons of other keywords that could get you a lot more monthly searches than that...

i was looking at the amount of results coming back on google might stand me a better chance of getting ranked well for a first venture, or is this not the way i should be looking at things?

  • So you are selling a product for a very specific form of dieting.

I would suggest writing about how that diet is better than other diets on article directories and pointing to your review of the product. That way you can increase your monthly searches significantly.

"What's better than the south beach diet?" -> Your diet

    • are those 2.4k searches a month broad or exact match? If it's exact match you found a winner there, at least to start out with and test your seo skills to see what works. if it's broad match do the search again in googles keyword tool, then on the left hand side untick "broad" and tick "exact".
