Its a dark and stormy night. The wind is blowing and the leaves are rustling around your house. However there is a small flickering light inside your house. What is it you ask?

Its you on your computer checking your email. You have 6New Emails.
- Congratulations you have just won the Spanish National Lottery
- Want To Make 7000$ At Home?
- RE: Last Day To Buy My Method
- Making 1000$ Every Day Buy Now
- Free Gift 4 Loyal Subscribers
- Diet Pills For Free Sign Up Today!

Look Familiar? <- The above is what every single person out there with an email sees everyday.

Scene Change : It is you writing a new letter to all your subscribers. Its getting pretty bleak you've been sending out one email per day with affiliate links and CPA leads but your getting 0% conversions. Your about to blast out your third one today to your 100subscribers, what used to be 200 this morning.

New List Builders/Marketers here is what you don't realize.
1. Your competing for your subscribers attention and money
2. Anything you can do, the Scam artists can send 1000x times more
3. Its as easy and 1-2-3 to unsubscribe

Problem: To Much To Many

Here is the main problem I see every new marketer make. They assume that just because you are the "marketer" that everyone else is now clueless. You assume that they will buy whatever you tell them to simply because they subscribed to your list.

Here is a common scenario:
Marketer sends out email blast
Day 1. - Make Money with Facebook
Day 2. - Make Automated Cash
Day 3. - Re: Last Day To Buy My Google Method
Day 4. - Etc, Etc
Even big name Guru's fall into the same situation. They constantly barrage their subscribers simply because they have a big enough list to do so. But you do not have such luxury if you are starting out. Eventually your emails become synonymous with scams and spams and you may find yourself 1 less subscriber.

Problem: Wheres the Cash

The mistake we all make is expecting instant gratification. List marketing is a completely new genre of income. To put it in a way we can all understand, simply YOU are the salesperson and you have a chance to make the right first impression on the people you are trying to sell your product to.

How many sales people that come knocking on your door hold up their product and starts blasting out spec's and pricing with a contract in your face. Not very many I hope, usually they come knocking on your door and starts trying to gain the trust of the people they are trying to sell their products to. Making small talk basically.

Problem: Stupidity Is Not Catching
Emails like.
RE: Last Day Blah Blah Blah
Got your message

Bringing This Back 4 You
Does Not Work, we never sent a message to you, trying to pretend that we did is unprofessional and shows your lack of respect for your subscribers.

Solution: "Small Talk"
Since you do not have physical access to your subscribers houses you have the next best thing. Which as it turns out to be gifts and tips. Look below and tell me if my inbox looks better then the one above.
Day 1. Freebie Friday 4 Loyal Subscribers Free PLR Articles
Day 2. Small Tip on Why YOUR not making money.
Day 3. Simple Traffic Method For Your Blog
Day 4. My Personal Handbook To You <--- Your Product
If you're a good enough writer you can easily drop hints in your Days 1-3 about how your about to release a product for your subscribers. Small Subtle Hints not blazing 500x500 banners saying BUY NOW!!!!eleven111!!

The whole process was simply to gain the trust of the reader. By gaining their trust I also gain product confidence. By gaining product confidence the reader now buyer is more willing to open up their wallets to you.

Here is how I see it as. The subscriber reading your Day 1-3 starts thinking, hey this guy knows his stuff, seems very knowledgeable. By the time you push your product this exact same thinking and your Day 1-3 becomes your sales testimonials.

Final Thoughts

It doesn't hurt to put in a bit of extra work for your subscribers. Make a video with your face in it. Putting a face to a name raises the trust factor. Or how about giving free webinars for Subscribers only. You invite them into your "Home" they will do the same for you.

When you e-mail your list you need to make sure everything is carefully crafted - needless to say the headline or the subject determines whether it gets opened.

Like Rich Schefren says - your auto-responder has to be crafted so that every email takes you one step closer to the sale and not one step backward..

Either way your taking your subscribers in one direction....just make sure it is the right one....if you need help with your auto-responder copy, you can PM me.

Recently, I found out that the most important thing about email marketing is this: You have to train your subscribers to expect your mail...

If you have subscribe to request information (not freebies) you will realize that you are expecting the person's email. You will look at who is sending first, rather than the subject line. We all think that subject lines are important....It is, but it is not as important as the person who is sending the email, in this case you.

Also, I dont buy the fact that you need to build relationship and trust with your subscribers in the first 3 mails before you can promote your product in the forth mail.

Here is the thing, we all have 7 days a week, if we are to make money on the forth day, that means in one week, we will only send one - two money making email...Doesn't make sense to me.

Here is what I have tested. Since I have 7 days a week, of that, I sent 6 mails a week (Never send on a Sunday). 4 mails are geared towards selling and 2 are for adswaps, to build my database.

Rule of thumb is not to send a blatant sales pitch but content with my product offering. Since we only have one shot a day, I never let that go to waste.

Here is my simple ABC mantra when i comes to email marketing:

    Always Be Closing

Well the 3day 4day example I gave was just to show people that you cant start pitching things right from the get-go. Although I do agree with your "Rule of thumb" which quite frankly should be common sense but alas people don't get it.
